The premier league haven't told anyone to do anything. It's the players who have decided they want to do it, because they believe there is a problem that needs highlighting FFS

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12070564/premier-league-players-continue-to-take-a-knee-on-2020-21-opening-day

The Premier League previously said it will continue to give its backing to players who want to kneel before games. "We still feel strongly about taking the knee and we will carry on doing it until there's change," Brighton captain Lewis Dunk told Sky Sports News.

So are you another that thinks that Lewis and his fellow footballers shouldn't be allowed to make this gesture ?

Colin Kaepernick first went on his knee in 2016. If any PL footballer had done that - even as as a goal celebration and I can't remember one - in 4 years then I'd be more likely to be convinced that wasn't an orchestrated press release that you've quoted. I'm sure there are PL footballers that believe in the cause and are passionate about it. I'm equally sure most go down on one knee because they don't want to cause a fuss.

Have to say was very pleased to see millwall do this today .

People re fed up with the whole blm being rammed down throats and the amount of division it had created . Things are in a much worse state than they ever were before and glad millwall fans stood up and voiced their disproval .

The knee is a Token gesture And means nothing .

So it's a token gesture and means nothing but is somehow annoying you and causing division?

You shouldn't be. A few in the Bear Pit are completely open about it and a few others on here can easily be spotted by anyone who can read between the lines.

I must admit I had forgotten the Bear Pit existed (although I did accidentally post on a thread that resided there recently), which probably explains why I’ve not noticed that our gene pool isn’t necessarily that great...

Or to be labelled a racist by social media lynch mobs.

I bet a fair few feel forced by the club/media. I just find that forced submission acts like this are going down a dangerous path. Especially when anyone opposing it is highlighted and vilified. Racism obviously has no place in society, but the continuous bending of the knee every single game is on another level. People have every right to boo the concept, regardless of the cause.

OK. So please tell us why you are against footballers taking the knee, and how your position advances anti-racism.

I think this is right.

The way I see it we need to have a grown up conversation about how to make a transition from the taking the knee message to something a bit less symbolically loaded

Nobody wants to be the first to suggest it though

People have the right to boo the concept of racism being bad, but then everyone has the right to point out they're racist

You are clearly missing the point. What about if black players didn't feel comfortable with the whole concept of having to take to the knee every game they play (which I bet there are a few)

Agreed. The point i'm making is that there are plenty who think this, but think equally strongly about a range of other issues and wonder why only this one issue is the one that gets highlighted at football

It isn’t the only issue as I showed in my post. I specifically mentioned gay players & homophobia.

I think there were plans to build expensive apartments for people that work in offices in the city.

Yes much better than a football club where every single fan is a bell end .

Fancy apartments, perfect.

I don’t think that was his point, wasn’t it more players are doing it just to toe the line? Unless I misinterpreted it.

I know many many people who don't drink and drive in order to toe the line.

I'm more than happy with that.

You?

Saying that bad eugenics causes racism is interesting.

I think I have heard it all now. Let me summarise. It is bad to make gestures against racism at football, because this excludes criticism of homophobia.
