OK. So please tell us why you are against footballers taking the knee, and how your position advances anti-racism.

1.) I don't think it advances the fight against racism in any meaningful way.

2.) I don't believe all footballers are participating on a voluntary basis.

3.) It might actually be damaging the fight against racism as it exacerbates division.

Exactly, some people are too emotionally challenged to understand this though!

The fact that it riles some people so much shows it's still worth doing. Keep ramming it down their fragile throats, I say.

No it doesn't. It just shows that it its not well put across, and that having to 'ram it down their fragile throats' is an admission that the argument isn't working. If it pisses off many people who are totally against racism, it's not doing any good.
Combatting racism - yes, 100%. BLM? Meh; probably more relevant in the States where the police routinely call open season on unarmed black people.

I think I have heard it all now. Let me summarise. It is bad to make gestures against racism at football, because this excludes criticism of homophobia.

Harry read back over the conversation. One post follows another, and the conclusion isn’t the one you arrived at.

My choice of words was echoing the complaints of the I'm-not-racist-buts. Nobody is ramming anything down anyone's throat except in the minds of a few troubled individuals.

So how long are footballers expected to take the knee.
A few more months, a year or 2 ? There is some terrible crimes committed by people of all races, some of it without even thinking of the persons skin tone.

<sigh>

Black lives matter, the meme, and Black Lives Matter, the much more recently-formed small assemblage of idiots, are not the same thing.

Do try to keep up before spouting off

(and you do realise you are now complaining on social media? Apparently not. Would you like to point out that you're not racist, but....?)

Don't be so daft. You can't just accuse everyone of racism for wondering what BLM is really about.

I'm not complaining, I've got no reason to complain as a white male because none of this affects me. I'll bow out let you lot crack on with the pointless arguing about it.

This was the most predictable event of 2020. Just surprised it didn't happen at Burnley unless I've missed it.Who knew people in a shit area of London, surrounded by cash with none of it filtering their way would be resentful about black live matters? I'm not saying it's right but it was obvious (and I said so on the F1 thread before I get accused of aftertiming)

They should have ditched this at the end of last season. It is just a gesture now and a mile away from where this started with Colin Kaepernick. That meant something.
You have evidence to belief that those booing live in poverty?

Get over yourself.

No? You really believe that?

Okey dokey, whatever. Everybody who disagrees with you is a racist. Fine, you obviously know best.
