Millwall and Derby are both sniffing around him aren't they?

In Gus we trust though. And we'll be in the box seat, as he's settled here and we're going to be in a far more powerful position than Millwall next season.

Wrong,

Glenn is the one quite clearly in the box seat.

He is if money is his primary consern...However he is unproven at championship level and this must come into Poyets value of the player...£10k a week on a unproven championship striker or £15k on a Billy Sharp or someone similar???..What would you do in Poyets shoes?

Im also not fussed one little bit if murrays leaves as i believe gus can easily attract far better players next season.

If he signs great but otherwise not to fussed:thumbsup:

Would be interested to see what murray is like in the championship???

Agree with that. Glenn has been top class this season but is certainly not irreplaceable. Would like him to stay but not the end of the world if he doesnt. In fact this is almost exactly what I said when Andrew Crofts left and I think we have just about coped.

To my mind he has been easily our hardest working and most effective player, in one of the clubs best ever seasons. An in contract Murray would surely command a transfer fee of £1M. I'd hate to see him playing for anyone else.

Lets see if you say that when we get a top top quality striker in???

Whilst I agree we shouldn't spend silly money and be held to ransom, consider this - Greer is supposedly our best paid player, I'd imagine Murray won't be too far behind. Hypothetically if Glenn is holding out for 10k p/w, that's 500k a year. Are we going to get better value for money than that? Any quality players on frees will have A LOT of competition from Championship/relegated Premiership sides, and however blue-and-white tinted our glasses are, despite a new stadium and a new manager, if we're not prepared to pay 10k p/w, there'll be plenty of sides who are - the likes of Wigan, West Brom, West Ham, Wolves or Birmingham could be in our division next year, without considering whoever doesn't go up from the top 6 or 8 already. Meanwhile signing a similar quality player who is under contract is going to cost 500k in transfer fee alone, without taking into account signing-on fee, wages, agent fees etc. If he's holding out for absurd dolla, say 15-20k p/w, then thanks for his effort and good luck in your career. But anything under 10k p/w is surely better value for money than sperming 500k+ on a new striker, plus wages, who may take time to settle and contribute in even half the way Glenn does? I have a feeling next year will not be as easy as we think - those thinking we'll magically replace a player like Glenn or Benno (if the ongoing Norwich rumours have any truth in them) and glide effortlessly into the play-off picture are IMO being a little optimistic.

I think I'd stand by that statement when we do sign this striker. Murray is good enough to play at the next level and remember strikers are more effective when they have a good partner, think Mellor/Ward...Nelson/Bremner...Byrne/Small....Murray and Sharp?

At the start of the season I would have agreed with this but Murray has been total class all season long, he has the ability to hang in the air so wins so many flick ons and offers another valuable dimension to our game, he is also our top scorer and just single handedly won us an extra 4 points from his finishing ability. I dont think he is totally irreplacable but would be a massive loss (especially for free)

Gus will attract quality players this summer but we already have a quality player in Murray, I also dont think an overhaul of the squad would be great either, If we could sign a pacey out and out goal scorer to play along side Murray it will be happy days. With Barnes coming off the bench.

The fact the he is unproven in the championship means f*** all, Neymar is unproven in the Premiership doesnt mean he wouldnt set it on fire, Charlie Adam was unproven in Prem, look at him. The most important factor here is a injury free Muray, playing for someone he believes in, is sheer class and him not signing a new contract is some we all should very much be 'fussed' about.
