I don't think EVOO has ever been £2 a litre? I'm very budget conscious, will only buy the cheapest EVOO, and I seem to remember it was about £5/litre two years ago?

I'm almost 100% sure it's not £2/litre recently. Happy to be proven wrong..

Edit: I did some research, seems the price has increased 4x since 2020. Pretty staggering.

For cooking, I was under the impression that Extra Virgin Olive Oil isn't a necessity.
yes, extra vigin for dressing, sauces or dips, regular for cooking, so i thought. great waste to be using extra-virgin for frying or baking.

It's the bottle we always get from Aldi. Might be 750ml but it's a big bottle nonetheless.

The Aldi stuff in the glass bottles is actually quite nice, think its labelled as greek.
The best olive oil is the waitrose own in the glass bottle (non-counrty affiliated, they do a similar Italian one that isn't a nice), much better than some of the expensive branded ones. Use it for dressings, that's when you need the taste.

Veg oil, peanut oil or lard for frying/roasting, higher smoke point innit :thumbsup:
