right manager at the right time. anybody who thinks he did anything other than a superb job for us clearly knows nothing about football - particularly in terms of what he did in the transfer market and the profits he made

for all poyets whinging about the "lack" of budget he has, imagine what he would have been like if his best players were getting sold left, right and centre and being replaced with people from hastings

what it really does is puts how far we have come as a club into perspective

good luck to him

I wish him all the best.

While he was here he was very undervalued by many. It's good to see that most have realised what a fantastic job he did in hindight.

I was one of those who never got to the point of wanting him sacked.

Good luck to him. I like the part of the interview where, when asked about himself as a manager he says "eventually I´d like us to pass the ball..."

Lets not also forget in the season we went down we were well in contention until about 10 games left and McGhee begged the board for £ 200k which he felt could have kept us up with a decent striker he wanted and was told, no Cigar.

Disagree, the difference was he insisted on playing Henderson, the worst keeper in our history, dropping FDM then bringing him back too late

the debacles at luton (which admittedley wasn't helped by one of the strangest team selections i can ever recall) and sheffield united when kuipers had just returned from injury showed that, that season, henderson was the better of the two keepers

the difference was that we lost currie, cullip, virgo and harding - four of our key performers from the previous season. and who were they replaced by? the likes of turienzo who was deemed not good enough by mcghee after a failed trial and then for some reason signed anyway, jason dodd and the big january signing to bolster an ailing squad and make a difference in the fight to stay up - doug loft. from hastings

This isn't even a good wind-up. It takes two minutes to look up the info.

Its not a wind up. We were out of the relegation zone with 10 games to go.

as much as i LOVE mark mcghee, we weren't. we were five points adrift of safety having just lost our sixth game in a row. we were in the bottom three from the end of january until the very end

we did look like picking up a bit over christmas before oatway got injured, carpenter got rushed back to replace him and we had to rely on joe gatting to get the goals to keep us up. there was a distinct improvement towards the end when mcghee did finally get his striker in gifton noel-williams, so who knows what would have happened if we had have been able to make at least one signing in january

I can imagine you writing to the FA insisting their records are wrong. "Fair enough, but I still stand by my argument!"

I may have over egged the cake on that one but I am nearly 50 so my memory is fading.

Ah yes, Mercenary Mark McGhee, the manager who moved from Reading to Leicester to Wolves all in the space of a week and look where he is now.

A Man can change as he indeed did. He was in for the long haul at Brighton so thats unfair. Brighton dumped him not the other way around.
