His positional awareness is better than Virgo's, but he is a bit clumsy. Still, if we can't get anyone better, then we should keep him as cover.

He does get in there and annoy the defence.
Ball control ? Could do with a few more lessons.

McCammon OCCUPIES defenders. He's a big, lumbering, pain in the arse who blunders around the opposition penalty area causing chaos and confusion. He has all the skill and subtlety of a broken washing machine, and about as much mobility, but he still gives us a presence up front and draws defenders, giving the likes of Leon a bit of breathing space.

He's the equivalent of a blunt axe. Not really all that effective on the face of it, but used a certain way, he can still cause some damage.

Right so can someone put me straight here. For health reasons have been unable to visit Withdean this season, so rely on NSC a lot. Now clearly ive not seen the guy play but would like to know how he is doing and this is what I understand to be the verdict.

He is awful. Really really awful.
BUT
His work rate is terrific, great aerial ability and he worries defenders

There are dozens of better players playing in non-league Sussex football
BUT
Someone counted at least 10 headers that were knocked back or flicked on into good positions. He drew several fouls in dangerous position and worked his socks off

And

Surely his pace and power could've been better utilised in a different sport that doesn't require footballing ability
THOUGH
We have just had an unbeaten Xmas period getting 8 points and Big Mac played no small part

Forgive me for being confused
:shootself    :shootself   :shootself ??? ???

Why don't you f*** off back to Old Trafford with all the rest of the prawn sarnie nobs.

I have to agree and that's not something I usually do when Ernest posts.

McCammon keeps defenders occupied which opens up more space for our other players.
This is why goals are being scored by Hart and Mayo. They are not being closed down by defenders.
Leon Knight has got space to run about and cause the havoc we know he can. Great goal by him today.

Against QPR he was woeful.

Are you having a f***ing giggle?

Q.P.R. have two big center backs who really hold their team together. They win all the headers and allow the team to push forward and impose themselves on the opposition.

At Q.P.R. McCammon and Virgo challenged them every time. They made it very difficult for Q.P.R. to control the game. This was visable in our ammount of first half posession.

I suppose you just judge strikers on how many they score? Or how good their first touch is? What a load of bollocks. McCammon played a huge part in our point at Q.P.R..

He did not win one single header against Shittu.

It doesn't matter if he doesn't win the headers!

Simply making harder for the defender to a. win the header and b. direct it gives us an advantage.

He is NOT cup tied, Millwall have let him play in the Spurs match, that was agreed when he signed.
I hope he hasn't got a computer, he'll never want to play for us again!!!!

I quite like him and would certainly want to keep him. He works hard and is a definite presence up front, think he will frustrate a lot of the time, seems to have a tendency to get the ball and run regardless of what is in front of him but I think he contributes to the team, results have been good with him there and will go on to help us pick up results.

I think Big Mark has done a great team job. Wins a lot in the air so means that defenders can't leave him alone.

Since he's been in the side there has been a lot more room for other players to get forward as defenders have to cover him. Holds the ball up well too.

10 goals a season at best, but he adds one hell of a lot to the team.

Anyway, if we stay unbeaten for a few more league games with him on the pitch then I'm more than happy to have him as a lucky talisman if nothing else. :)

Lots of opinions on MM on here....having seen him twice now I can see that he is never going to be a prolific scorer, has the ball control of a 14 year old reading Playboy for the first time and does fall over a lot. He also gives defenders a lot to think about while he's running around near their penalty area, puts in loads of challenges for headers and generally makes life uncomfortable for defenders.

Still can't make up my mind if I'd like to see him stay for the rest of the season? Probably best to give him time to get fully match fit and then form an opinion???

When I saw him he didn't look amazingly talented, but he was just.....well, 'there'.
Instead of an empty area where balls are hoofed into the defender's domain, he was there to collect things. He held the ball up a bit and took attention off others.

If that was what he was brought in to do, I suppose he's doing that job.
I doubt he'll score many, but there you go.

This is only the second time that I can think of that I've agreed with Ernest. (Please forgive me, it's probably a phase I'm goiung through).

I agree with the sentiments of a lot of people that he's not a skilful player, but as MM has pointed out, we need to judge McCammom on what he's there to do.

Everyone has been saying that we need a big target man to help LK. We've got one now, and people still aren't happy. He makes a nuisance of himself around the oppositions penalty area, and disrupts their defence, thereby allowing other players to work in the gaps.

I can't imagine he's going to ever score a shed-load of gaols, but he may created opportunities for other players to score more.

Since he's been here, we've looked more imposing up front, and look likely to challenge in a lot more games.

Give him at least another month.

My view ... he's as good as Benjamin and better than Iwelumo. Worth keeping unless there's someone better out there.

It's worthwhile noting that we've only scored two goals in four games this season and two of them have been since McCammon has been playing which leads me to conclude that he's doing something right up there in attack.
