Mayo's performance

How soon is now?
Mayo was awful, his confidence must have been shot to bits in the 2nd half as he just couldn't deliver even the most simple of passes.
I thought Elphick was good cover in the centre of defence, my MOM today. Sadly nothing positive to say, Robinson was a passenger out on the right when he came on and the decision making for the substitutions was a bit shaky - I'm sure Wilkins knows what he's doing but even so with our "first" 11 out there we could, and should have beaten them.

Give Mayo his testimonial and with that, a farewell and thanks for your efforts!

FFS He set up our two best chances!

And one of those was a mis-kick.

Todays performance was abysmal, but it involved 14 players and a coaching team, how it is all Kerry Mayo's fault is beyond me.

If you find the need to blame any ONE person I would suggest it would be Dean Wilkins. The starting 11 was certainly not the strongest available and the substitutions were beyond belief and as he said in the after match interview he doesn't know what went wrong.

Oh yeah of course, how stupid of me. :dunce:

I am not a Mayo-hater. If he plays well, or at least to a vaguely competent standard, I'm happy to have him out there, and put up with his occasional lapses. I certainly don't have an innate dislike of him, but am well aware that some on here do.

The pure and simple fact about today- and I stress that I am solely talking about today, not last week, last month, the rest of Mayo's professional career etc- is that he had what is generally termed a MARE.

He was terrible.

Go on about a couple of nice passes if it makes you feel better, but the facts of the matter are that Mayo is paid to defend, and he did that dismally today. For what it's worth, I didn't think his passing was that great either, but that's not really central to the argument.

I can't see why you're trying to turn this into a crusade against the anti-Mayo brigade, granted there are a few about and sometimes they're not very fair, but if you or I did our jobs as poorly as he did today, we'd rightly be expecting criticism from all quarters. End of.

PS to be fair, they were almost all crap today, but Mayo struggled more than most.

I thought that Mayo and Loft today formed a partnership worthy of them both being kicked out of the club in the Summer

can't come soon enough.

Mayo is a liability:angry: and has been for a very long time.

And he is not the only one that should be shown the door.

there is a lot of dead wood accumulating.

Why was Kerry playing? Is Rents injured? Everyone knows what Kerry can do and I haven't seen Rents have a bad game. Surely he should get a run in the side for the rest of the season.

There seems to have been some strange decisions about the left back position of late. El Abd played there against Huddersfield above Mayo and Rents.

Oh so we are going to conveniently forget his two through balls, the second one superb, to Frutos, in the first half, which were our best chances of the game and the only time anyone thought to play it on the ground.

Oh yeah right, nothing can get in the way of some Mayo Bashing.

I like my defenders to defend rather than attack

Mayo was piss flaps. He won one header and did play that excellent through ball for Frutos but for the other 89 mins he was toss. He seemingly kept getting dragged inside by Cadearsey which pulled Lynch left and left Elphick a tad exposed, not good for a young centreback on his full Dee-Butt.

I personally thought Frutos once again looked like a decent player who needs matches. If you watch his runs they are all intelligent and he attempts to use the ball in the same way.

Not so sure about Loft, he was his usual self in that he was full of running and seemed a lot calmer on the ball which was good. Still not convinced he could impose himself on a game though.

Another shit performance from a consistently shit player, who has been raping this club of wages for YEARS. To be honest, it was cringeworthy. Not only is he slow, fat, and talentless, he is prone to park-level mistakes. Shocking defensively, and offers nothing going forward - how has he forged a career in football, let alone at full back? Sentimentality (I would guess from the chairman) has saved him for several years now. I just pray to god that Wilkins is a strong enough character to say enough is enough, and get rid this summer.

I think he will get another contract on the basis that he has played enough games - unlike OGH I believe. I can not verify this -just what people were saying after the game. Makes sense though as that's how he got his last extension.
