Oh so we are going to conveniently forget his two through balls, the second one superb, to Frutos, in the first half, which were our best chances of the game and the only time anyone thought to play it on the ground.

Oh yeah right, nothing can get in the way of some Mayo Bashing.

That was probably a success rate of about 10%. I am not just bashing Mayo for the sake of it. Show me another thread entitled "Frutos' performance" or "Revells' Performance".

Whether or not he put a decent through ball in, his defensive skills, being a left-back, are critical. He failed miserably on those today. I did give him credit for saving our bacon in the first half!

I thought Mayo was very effective going forward, until Wilkins moved him to Midfield.

The whole pace thing is always brought up with him. The particular problem today was that the 'diamond' Wilkins insists on us playing, even though we don't have anywhere near the quality of players to play it effectively, left Mayo (and Rehman to an extent) exposed.

Mayo was outfoxed alright - but he's not alone. The defence-splitting passes to his marker, that went by him were obviously delivered by somebody.
Frutos and Rents are not the makings of a midfield, that's for sure.

Savage was imposing up front too.

They didn't come for a poxy point, and I have to say that - for a team to take all 3 points, they only have to try, and they can.

I can't believe what I've just read.

The first was the one when Frutos tried to round the keeper but failed.

The second was from deeper and cut through two defenders which Frutos hit first time I think.

So what part of playing those two balls meant that Mayo wasn't effective going forward?

I think Zebedee meant that it would be even easier to go forward, once he was in midfield. (Where he started his career)

Most of the team had given up at that stage. Donny seemed like they had at least two more men than us.

Agreed, he was far more effective as a left back, where I thought he shackled their winger fairly well.

i would have rents over mayo any day of the week - he can defend effectively and delivwers a cracking set piece

Listen leave off, I thought he was OK, he is a typical REVERVE, if we offer him a contract then that's the terms he should be on, otherwise its the conference at best if he is lucky.

he's doing OK down here and with each game he's getting that bit more confident

BUT today i felt he came was too slowly off his line,whether or not he was waiting for the defence is beyond the point , as with the rest of the team their was no communication

however his shot stopping abilities are coming on leaps and bounds , sadly he'll do fantastic for you lot next season
