Potter treated Matty like dogshite. Matty didn't deserve that. Karma will come back to haunt Potter.
My goodness, such hysteria.
Clubs drop and sell players all the time. I’m sure Matty will be ok.

To sell players other clubs need to want to buy them! moreover at sensible fees agreeable to both clubs, that's often far from easy, especially with only, in Ryan's case, little more than a week left on the transfer window. Better a loan move than no move at all.
Very poor assumption IMO. He comes across as a great person and consummate pro
Being dropped for Spurs away was clearly a warning to Ryan, obviously it was a warning he didn’t take seriously enough. Whether that was about performance levels, training levels, attitude etc is something we’ll probably never know.
But is he a 'good' Premier League goalkeeper anymore?
I'd say no, and also say that he hasn't been one for ages.
Are people gutted that he's gone because he's a good goalie, or more for the fact that he always came across to the fans as a 'decent bloke' and was part of some great wins along the way. AND made (not makes) some great saves ,,,,,,,
No, I don't know better. How could I? And that's the point. you don't know either. The Ryan situation is bizarre. There could very well have been a huge falling out that was in danger of becoming toxic so they thought the best course of action would be to get Ryan out on loan. Even if it weakened our goalkeeping options. It's a plausible scenario so how can you say Potter and Roberts fundamentally don't agree?
I'm not arguing that Sanchez isn't good enough. He looks very capable and did, to me at least, prior to making his premier league debut. It's the other two that concern me if they should, for whatever reason, find their way in to the first team.
How do you know that Potter and Roberts aren't gambling that Sanchez won't get injured? After all, keeper injuries are fairly rare.
Of course I understand that - but we are so unbelievably bad at it! If we want to progress, using our sustainability model, we will not only need to develop our own players (and sell on some of them for big fees a la Southampton, Leicester, etc.), but also sell players we no longer need in order to be able to occasionally pay a higher price for a player to fill a gap we ca't fill (striker anyone?).
But we're never going to get there as long as we're seen as a soft touch, a small club that'll accept peanuts for our players. Look at our record:
Duffy - can't sell, on loan;
Ryan, can't sell, on loan;
Locadia, can't sell, on loan;
Andone, couldn't sell, loaned out, bounced straight back to us.
Martin Montoya, couldn't sell, gave him away;
Ollie Norwood, loaned out, loaned out again (winning Championships) and sold for peanuts (and finishing above us in the league last season);
Bernardo, can't sell, loaned out;
David Button, practically given away for about a quarter of what we paid for him;
Dale Stephens, practically given away to a relegation rival;
Kayal, loaned out until his contract ended.
It's not a good record, is it? - we paid millions for some of those players. Strewth - gong back we even let Murray go for nothing!

Yes fare thee well Maty.
As someone else has said; best keeper we've ever had (but Bobby Sanchez is better)
I see no cause to worry. If Sanchez gets injured, I think Walton will play. Actually, I think he was considered to be our no.2 - ahead of Sanchez - before he got injured against Chelsea. He's been unlucky in that Sanchez has grabbed his chance with both hands and now looks to have made the place his own.Yes, except WHEN Sanchez has a rough patch or injury. Or red card. They all do, so we can be sure of that. Maybe something's happening to provide stronger cover. Also, I hope that the support on here for Sanchez remains when he has a bad patch.

I've no idea about what happened with Ryan, and I'm not going down the road of hearsay, and just because it's a plausible scenario, it doesn't follow that it's the whole truth, nor that there's any truth.
However, what I DO know is that Roberts has always held Sanchez, Steele and Walton in very high regard. He had those first two sign for the club. The press box isn't a vacuum.
Wouldn't you have said that before Sanchez made his debut? If not, great.
I've no idea about anyone 'gambling'? In Walton and Steele, Ben Roberts has 450 first team games' worth of experience to work with.
You do make a good case GT.
Never considered it but you’re right. We don’t seem to sell very well. The one exception being Knocky who I think we got decent value for.
I wonder if we were shopping these players out to a degree, which makes it hard to command a fee.
That in a nutshell is my point. I don't know and you don't know so you can't talk with anymore certainty than I can.
My opinion, based on what I've seen of Steele and Walton is that they're not premier league quality keepers. Sanchez, so far, is. Ryan, definitely is. Losing him from the gk stable leaves us in a precarious position, in my opinion, because two of our three keepers aren't, again in my opinion, premier league quality. They may have 470 first team games between them but none are at premier league level. Why might that be?
Im a bit gutted. Gave everything for the team. He was found lacking a bit this season. But a huge mystery still around his falling down the pecking order.
Will always remember his Penalty save away at Stoke and loved his passion for the team and his lenghty runs up the pitch for our goals. Thought it was going to be tough to replace Stokedale but he took us to another level.
Really very concerned about Potter removing experience from our squad. We really are lacking now across all areas of the pitch.
