It's pretty common knowledge now surely - RDZ wanted to sign established players with limited resale value to have a proper go and in turn boost his cred, we wanted to stick to our mix of youth and experienced heads that got us to this point. It's not really a puzzler.

But, interestingly a week after De Zerbi arrived in Marseille and they send a formal bid to 21 year old, Equi Fernández - who we seem to have been tracking for a while. I assume he didn't think the recruitment was all bad!

I hope Pascal stays. This has been looking more likely in recent days. If he does, he surely plays the CAM position which would allow him to go for a record goals/assists season for us.

Wieffer slots straight into the back 3 for me although will be the CDM pivot when we have possession.

If we sign no more 1st players are signed and assume that players currently injured, won’t be back for the Everton game, I think this is how we’ll set-up:

————————Verbruggen —————————

———Van Hecke——Wieffer———Dunk————

Lamptey——Gilmour———Groß-————Barco

——Minteh————-Pedro——-Adingra————
Still don’t think it looks that strong. Granted Mitoma coming back in makes the front 3 look excellent. I’d like to see another central midfielder personally instead of Gilmour. That may well be Baleba, but I think we need another big signing there. Also a right wing back, but that’s not saying anything we all don’t already know.

That midfield is about 5’ 6’ if they all stood on each others shoulders….. Anyway Hinch will be ready, Mitoma also likely.
Barco will be in Paris.
If we go into a season with G&G as our CMs then we’re not finishing top 10.
I do have a concern about Wee Billy.

Wieffer obviously moves into the midfield as a deep lying playmaker when we have possession buts that is what Wee Billy is good at. The other two central midfield positions got a lot of goals and assists in Hürzeler’s St Pauli set-up. Can Wee Billy sit higher up and actually contribute to our goal scoring? Like Moder, if we don’t have a midfielder who is capable of bagging regular goals and assists, perhaps Wee Billy could be moved on?

I agree. A minimum of 3 first team signings are still needed prior to August.

We've been tracking these players for a long time so Albion eould have hoped to sign them whoever the vosch was. I think DeZerbi ruined it for himself with his behaviour in the second half of the season. Otherwise he would still be here with the new team developing
Agreed, signed his death warrant (sorry, I meant mutual parting of the ways) with the pops at the the hierarachy in the media during and immediately after the January window

Sticking my neck out here and suggesting Gilmour will shine this year with an enforcer beside him. Quick feet, good engine and totally at home with one touch passing forwards, sideways and backwards as necessary. Just needs to find some shooting boots.

Interesting, is this where you see him fitting into the set up?

I had in mind he would be primarily a midfielder (meaning, you'd probably want another defender than you have) and he's be doing a role a little more like the one Bissouma did for us. Baleba would then become an understudy

I guess we'll all have to wait and see

Sure I read we’ve not approved Barco going to the aolympics, on the basis Pervis isn’t back

Not quite yet but there is almost confirmed interest in centre back, Lucas Thinnes from SG Hochwald.

That would complete Hürzeler’s first ‘expression’ trio signing. I suspect we could expect many more.

Here are Lucas’ highlights:

Even if he never played this would make me happy.

Can we also sign Isaac Cofie so we have Weiffer Thinnes Minteh Dunk in Cofie

I'll get me coat.

This all takes me back to the hypothetical, but quite feasible, commentary of past years: "Butters, Mayo, Hammond to Martot..."

Apologies if I'm not keeping up but I assume the lad is injured, or not as good as we hope. Holland have a Euro knock out match today so the wouldn't let him nip off and ponce about in his new Brighton shirt for the BHAFC web pages if he has a match today. Did they do the publicity shots on an iPhone in his hotel room?

Edit: Not in squad https://www.fourfourtwo.com/feature...24-squad-team-players-line-up-holland-germany
