Yes, from the rational people who are prepared to actually think about things.

But plenty of completely irrational bollocks from others, which is what irks me.

I know right! It reminds me of the shocking witch hunt when Guy Butters played for us and someone from NSC put him on Ebay for a £1 after a few bad performances and publicly humiliated him. He turned out pretty good in the end and I think Matts will too. Who was that anyway? I forget.

Incredible how many have made their mind up about him. He was fine last night. Some good moments, some sloppy, but largely 7/10 and if Ferguson buries his chance he has a great assist to his name too.

Reading this you'd have thought he'd had a 1/10 stinker. Crikey
Who has definitely made their mind up on him?

Again, there is a big difference between writing a player off and expressing initial concerns with them.

I think there’s still a good chance he’ll prove to be a valuable player for us, but I also think he’s had an underwhelming start.

I think he's had an underwhelming start too. He's started what, two games due to injury?

But read back the posts after last night's game and you can see it's all premeditated stuff off the back of Saturday about him having had a 'mare last night. He clearly didn't

Not so sure. The pass against Wolves was just 'one of those things', and I defended him on that. He did okay last night. But standing around looking lost with extremely poor body language for the whole passage for the third goal really wasn't a good look. Fans have always forgiven errors - but we do expect effort and desire.

He needs time and ultimately game time to try to improve. As I've said before no one should be writing him off, although in all likelihood one or two of our new additions probably won't quite make it (that's just the law of averages).

This time last year I was one who thought Baleba didn't look much, but look how he's developed. Thankfully if Wieffer does struggle (I hope he won't) we do have other options in that position, Baleba being the obvious one. With O'Reilly to come back soon, Gomez hopefully in January, and Milner as another back up option, fortunately it's a position we are relatively well covered for.

He reminds me a bit of the Crackle character of the Snap Crackle and Pop trio on the old Rice Krispes packets

Not a great second half though, topped off by his part in their third goal.

First half was okay….
What I liked was when he did lose the ball, he recovered it really quickly.
Second half, less so

After slating him for the third goal and watching back he looked absolutely knackered and barely able to move during that period. Should have been subbed. Yes he’s had a couple of really bad moments but It really is time for people to back off the lad and give him some time as he looks really good at breaking up play, and just needs time to adapt.

Agree.
But I didn’t hear anyone on his back in the ground - this is a discussion forum.

I’m afraid this is the PL, ‘time to adapt’ is nice in theory, but you generally have to be at a certain level from the start. 90% of our signings are ready immediately, others take longer (or go out on loan) or never make the make the grade. Perhaps this is why Wieffer is not a regular starter, as he’s not hitting the right level in training.

Unfortunately, two howlers in successive games aren’t going to help. As I said elsewhere in this thread, I thought the crowd were great Saturday and actually Wednesday as well.
