Putting aside the third goal, the number of times he gets run past and then ambles back before seemingly realising he’s actually playing and starting to sprint, arriving three seconds too late, is astonishing. Happened at least 10 times today. Indeed, on the highlights on Sky alone, you can see it happen 3/4 times usually followed me flailing his arms around at no one in particular.

Gets his foot in a couple of times but that’s not close to being enough to cover the lack of concentration, energy and technical ability that he evidently doesn’t possess.

The way he moves reminds me of a spider whose had a few of his legs amputated.

I thought he’d had a good game until that third goal, which quite frankly was a pathetic effort. He looked completely spent, so maybe it’s actually on Hurzeler for not subbing him.
Both him and Moder were also poor for the first goal. He’s a defensive midfielder who can’t be relied upon defensively, sometimes he just completely switches off as for the third goal, he’s not only slow in body the fear is he doesn’t have a lot of football intelligence either

Moder was a stand out poor game imho today. Immobile, Curtis Jones ghosted past him any time he chose to.

I’ve not seen it back but the xG for that must have been about 0.05. It’s an incredible finish. Gakpo won’t hit a better ball all season. We (when we’re actually in position) defend narrowly, ceding the wide areas and people were gleefully sharing videos about FH when he signed, along the lines of “he doesn’t use a midfield”, as if that was a good thing.

I thought he played well and was a thorn in LFC’s side. Far better than Moder.
I missed the lineups and I got to 37 mins before I realised he was playing. I don't know who that reflects worse on, me or him.

I agree that his and Tariq just aren't up to it. And I'm always optimistic about players chances.

That’s happened to me many times, in the last year often Evan Ferguson!

Yes, it was nearly half time when I noticed Moder.

As others have pointed out, the easiest way to sum up his appearances so far is that he is just off the PL pace.

The two extra unfortunate things for him are, his mistakes are very noticeable and costly, and, he’s following the footsteps of recent predecessors in his position who have all been very composed receiving/moving the ball.

I really hope it’ll come good, but at the moment I’m unconvinced.

He’s also following in the foot steps of a number of recent predecessors in his position who all looked out-of-sorts initially but improved greatly.

Agree.
For 45 minutes Wieffer did okay.
Lost the ball, but quickly regained it.

First goal, I did feel we were sloppy, but great strike, unstoppable.

Thereafter Wieffer (and Moder) were both poor, culminating in an extremely poor third goal.

Lots of room for improvement.

I must be in the minority but I thought he had a good game, and he got the odd smattering of applause for his efforts at times too. I couldn’t see what he did or didn’t do for the third goal as I didn’t really see it properly.
Agreed. He looks a decent player in and out of possession, I thought him and Gruda both did well

I thought he was decent last night - couldn't really see the third goal (I'm in the North), so my comments need to be caveated. However, I really like the way he keeps the ball moving. He was possibly slightly handicapped by having to play alongside Moder (who we all love, but just isn't at this level, imho). He tries to play the difficult pass rather than the easy one, and when it doesn't come off it looks crap. He is still obviously adjusting to the pace of the EPL - I'm sure there is a very decent player there.

Look at the highlights, very very poor defending and when he lost the ball no effort to regain the ball, he actually seemed to be strolling around in the background and then bends over holding his knees in disappointment when the ball hits the net, very poor.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt and obviously give him time to improve and integrate into not only the Premier League intensity but a new squad and new manager also finding his feet. We obviously bought him for a reason and the analytical checking before we move for a player is seldom wrong, so there is a very good player to emerge given time.
