People mocking our own supporters for essentially defending themselves is something that bothers me.
I get that, but defending themselves is different to bouncing around shouting abuse back at a bunch of twats.

The problem/issue as I see it is that if things had got worse as a result of the posturing, those folk would probably have not been seen.

In my experience people only really defend themselfs when they have something to defend and no choice but to defend themselves. Those without responsibility, without a vulnerable person with them, tend to be the ones that start/encourage it and/or leg it when it becoems a problem - nothing keeping them there you see. Self preservation kicks in.

Are Marseille known for causing much trouble abroad? Could the nutters causing problems at their home games really afford to come to Brighton en Masse?

I can't remember Marseille causing trouble in England before. Which is why I'm surprised some wusses on here are already running scared !

Mate of mine was telling me a story about the police liaison officer from Marseilles visited the Amex at the Athens game and the first question he asked was “ where are the fences kept”. When he was told that we don’t have fences, he was incredulous that we thought we could contain the Marseilles fans with a few stewards. Seemly he just looked at the safety team and gave them a gallic shrug!

could be an interesting night if we beat them!
In the last decade, Marseilles have played at Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Man City. There will not have been any fences at any of them.

Pre Marseille away we had lots of comparisons with the Spurs away match of last year.
Do we have any idea what happened at the reverse fixture?

Just wasted 10 minutes locating the attack.

148 Bd de Roux, 13004 Marseille, France is the pharmacy in the background. Nowhere near the ground.

It felt like we were taken in on a random route.

Do they always go the same way?
Was this attack unplanned just a random event?
Were there mopeds out looking for the coach, similar to what was reported when our fans were locked in a bar on the Wednesday night?

You'd imagine so, they watched us nearly the whole time we were there so don't see why would be any different this time. Plus the city is extremely residential all the way up to the ground so would have been easily spotted regardless.

Our coach was hit by an apple as we left the stadium
Disappointment from their hard core in not being a top seed?

Either way, they're taking the pith.

I was thinking that as well. Kids in a rough part of Marseille chucking stones at the team bus seem unlikely to be largely the same people who have €500 to fly to European away games every few weeks.

Newmarket.
Perhaps anyone who's certain Marseille fans will come in peace, might like to meet and greet them in town, show them the sights and then escort them to the Amex. I'm sure one of our "top boys" will have the contact number of one of their "top boys" and a meeting place can be arranged.

("Top boys, what a load of old bollox, fucken "top boys")

Names below.

"As per the local media, 12 Marseille fans have been arrested. Six of them were carrying a deadly weapon, and six others were arrested for loitering. "

How big was this deadly weapon that it took six of them to carry it?

Were the other six loitering carrying out that vital role in any fight of "I'll hold your coat'?

When has anyone in the history of civilisation been afraid of the French?
We were in 1066.
Napoleon gave us a bit of a runaround.
and despite their reputation as surrender monkeys in WW2, there were some well ‘ard bar stewards involved in theFrenchResistance all over the country.
