Will get a very mixed reaction from on here but I think he was class, was a victim of his own success in a way. Got a bit stale at the end but id still have him back here.

Ditto, apart from having him back. Too many bridges burnt.

One criticism would be negative tactics at times, but he masterminded some fantastic wins against teams that are now in the Premier League.

He got us up against the odds (I think) and certainly kept us up against the odds, when relegation rivals had £'s to spend.

I assume you are a Motherwell Fan, Cissbury?

Had to go in the end after completely losing the dressing room. Did a fantastic job to take us up to the Championship though, and an even better one to keep us there for a second year

He was quite a cautious manager, but he identified our strengths and weaknesses reasonably well, and took us to our highest finish for 15 years. The football was not great to watch, but he was fairly pragmatic and risk averse, and given that he had no money to play with he did pretty well.

He converted Adam Virgo from a reasonable centre half into a utility player and then conned Celtic into paying £1.5million for him, signed a clapped out winger from Wycombe on a free transfer and four months later sold him to Ipswich for £250k, and spotted the potential in Desperate Dan Harding and then shipped him out to Leeds for a good fee.

There were some excellent results against much bigger teams that will live in the memory for a long time, West Ham, Forest, Sunderland, the cup match at Spurs where we matched them for 90 minutes........oh and beating Palace at Selhurst for the first time in a generation too.

On the downside, he was old school in his relations with some of the young players, who were quite a handful to deal with, and had some fairly public fallouts with them.

His public relations skills were not very good, he was probably too honest for his own good here and was not inclined to try to spin a story.

El Pres's summary is pretty accurate account really, sadly most of the good stuff gets forgotten because of the way things finished.

Makes you wonder how things would have been if Leon and CKR's strops had been handled better?

Had some brilliant times under him but sadly he lost the majority of the fans, board members and some players rebelled. What he did with no money is probably about the best we have had from a manager for years

Good manager who couldn't keep making a silk purse out of a sow's ear and constantly had his best players sold from under him. Struggled to handle the gangstas at the club and was shamefully dismissed by a chairman who lost his nerve having originally backed him, after consecutive defeats by one goal to a team who got promoted and a team who fell in the playoffs.

He'll do well for you if backed properly by the board of Motherwell

thought he was good to begin with, getting us up, good day out at Cardiff great first season in the Championship and the Win at Selhurst but toward the end he fell out with players etc.

would rate him but not have him back, i cant see him fitting back ino the Albion after such a negative exit

No, he did not lose the MAJORITY of fans. What he lost was a vocal MINORITY who made Dick Knight think he had to sack him. I am a huge DK fan but that decision ranks among his biggest mistakes. Good luck to Mark Mcghee; What he did here was amasing and it's to the great shame of that vocal minority that they forced him out.
