If this was truly the first offer then Im not worried...... would expect the first offer to favour the club..... he hasnt stormed out saying it was a ridiculous offer I assume so it probably wasnt that far away from what he wanted. the next offer will be the more realistic one. After all he knows the club wants him.

He is also married to Jimmy McNulty. Don't want to be cynical, but is it possible this is the source? And what might be WJ's motivastion for putting this in the public domain? I'm sure it's purely with a view to sharing the inside info!

That's very harsh on Ritchie.

Just wished a Swansea supporting mate good luck for today by text. He just replied and said that he had seen Poyet at Swansea.
Possibly tying up a deal for Painter?

This is a bit like the liverpool scenario this year eho spunked 18mil on a right back when instead they should have spent it on a couple of decent strikers.

There's no point breaking the bank on trying to get Painter down here when our priorities lie elsewhere on the pitch.

Have you not noticed how having Painter in the defence has changed our luck? It is vital we have a dependable back four next season if we are serious about challenging for promotion. Painter is KEY in my opinion.

The best managers always build from the back. We have had a fantastic defence since Calderon and Painter came in whereas earlier in the season we were awful. In January signing defenders was a priority. Surely if Painter does not sign it becomes a priority again. I agree that we need at least one and probably two new strikers but I think that securing Brezovan, Calderon, Painter and if possible Lua Lua, Hendrie and Barnes should be the first priority.

A 'disaster' is something like the oil spillage off the coast of America...
Painter not signing for us, would be annoying !

not sure that the oil spillage will have much affect on the Albion's promotion chances next season, unless Bloom owns BP shares, so not a disaster in that context. Painter is the first left back we've had in years who looks comfortable there week in week out.

So we break the bank trying to sign a left back and forget about getting in a striker?

Can we not afford more than 1 player. I would expect this same scenario to crop up more than once durting the summer and in most cases be resolved and in this case I would hope that a compromise will be found that is mutually beneficial to Marcus and to us, as we both need each other.

maybe looking at other players out of contract in the summer, don't swansea have too many in their squad and needing to let some go to lower the wages ?

just a thought bearing in mind he knows the previous swansea manager who bought a load of them
