A nurse/medical person (probably never been closer than 6000 miles to Old Trafford) who was removing my stitches a couple of hours ago professed an interest in ‘soccer’. He asked about my team, but was a little reticent in response, saying that his team were not doing so well. I joked that he must be a United fan and began laughing. People are going to be surprised to see how little of Uniteds problems that are down to Ole.

It’s a bit of both. Clearly bigger issues than just OGS as recruitment has been bizarre at times. Strengthening in the wrong areas and have an incredibly lopsided squad. He is also tactically poor. Has no idea how to get a team playing as a team and has no clear way he wants them to play and relied throughout on individual brilliance. Their goalkeeper even said yesterday they don’t know what to do with the ball. I do think other managers could get more from the squad at their disposal and I assume the board must as well.

In my opinion 2 of those Watford goals looked very suspicious to me and could have been saved.

As I see it he was intended as a short term manager to take the squad back to a happy place after the Maureen misery spell.

Then he had a few recent sporadic spells making replacement him awkward.

I can think of:

Ince, Bruce, Hughes, Robson, Giggs, both Nevilles, Scholes, Keane, OGS. I'm sure there must be others that I've forgotten. None of those have been very good.

Hughes has had the best career in that he has had good periods of success at some clubs before it all went wrong.
