Perhaps because (bless him) Kerry Mayo was "marking" Carlos Tevez.
Wasn't it later found that Tevez ineligible to play for West Ham due to multi-ownership? Tsk.

Sounds like a footballing version of Todd Marinovich, his dad essentially used him as a human experiment on how to create an NFL quarterback from birth. That worked out well for him...This sounds VERY unhealthy.
Gabriel’s career to date has been managed to the letter by his family with superstardom in mind. His dad, XXXXXXXXXXX, made the decision to change the family’s surname to Gabriel as it is viewed as a nod to the family’s religious beliefs as well as offering the United starlet a more brandable name.
The decision was also made to home school Gabriel so as to maximise his football, while he follows a very strict diet to enhance performance. He is, to all intents and purposes, already operating as a top professional, and made his England Under 15s debut last month.
Yeah, I did think after I'd posted that he wasn't a loan. My memory's completely fading though, I thought he was at Utd first and Arsenal second - old age is a terrible thingStapleton played for us on a short term contract. He'd left Arsenal for Man United 13 years before he joined us and played for another 8 teams before joining us.
In fairness we did sign Akpom in the season we got promoted to the PL - how’s that for juxtaposition. Hilariously his wiki page also states he “helped Albion to promotion” (with his 0 goals in 10 games).Joe (now we all know) was one of a sorry list of very bad players the Albion signed from Arsenal back in the old days. Hopefully we've learned the lesson.

I will forgive them Paul Dickov, Mark Flatts and Steve Sidwell. I will never forgive them for Graham Barrett.
