It wasn't even a tackle.. You need two players for that I thought? Kompany had won the loose ball before Nani even got there and NO contact was made between the two players!

For a tackle, I think one player has to have possession of the ball, not just have two people there, but the law uses the phrase "challenging for the ball" not tackle, which I presume would include lunging for a loose ball. The proximity of other players would then play a part in defining the dangerousness of the lunge. But again, I'm just trying to explain the law as I read it, having not seen the challenge.
