Once the take a look at Newhaven I’m sure they’ll head back on their own accord. Poor souls.
SLOWEST unloading and Border Force officials in the world (I'm sure they send all those officials that get the lowest scores in their appraisals to Newhaven as a punishment) !!!! That said, I'm glad nobody died and will hopefully be OK.

Newmarket.
Obviously found all those ambulances in the magic ambulance tree.
I'm hoping they're all back in general circulation now and responding with the same expediency to Sussex's seriously ill.

Is France particularly dangerous then?

There are many motivators for coming to the U.K.

Our government has created a huge backlog of asylum cases, making more opportunities to disappear or stay indefinitely while the back log is (never) cleared.

They may have family here.

They likely speak the language.

But most often the smuggling gangs don’t give them a choice.
They are treated like stock.

Some can stay in France and become sex workers/servants/beggars/pickpockets/drug dealers

Some can come to the U.K. and do the same here.

Perhaps they’ll keep your daughter in France and put her to work while you go to London and pick pockets on Oxford street. Hopefully you do a good job. I mean, you will never see your disagree again but hope is a great motivator.

All depends where the need is most.

So, is France that dangerous? Yes, if you are owned by a smuggling ring. Very dangerous

So no more dangerous than the UK for the migrants?

That is beside the point in many cases.

What’s your point?

You haven’t understood what I’ve written.

I sense you never will.

Sure some want to come to the U.K. for perceived economic reasons. I don't doubt that for a second.

Be more direct. It gets better results.

His Islamophobic sentiments have been very obvious on the Israel/Gaza/Hamas thread too - like posting fake news, calling pro-Palestinian marches, ‘Hamas’ and suggesting several times Palestinians should all be moved to Jordan.

I agree that most contentious issues are not dichotomous (actually most of us do) but there are ways of voicing arguments against something without dehumanising people or being racist so sorry, your comments here are not why people are antagonised by @carlzeiss’s comments. One can voice arguments against migration without resorting to hatred.

Perhaps some folk really should hide their light under a bushel when it comes to personal beliefs unless they can express them without inflicting discriminatory abuse or bullying on others. 🤷‍♂️
I wasn't talking about that poster in particular. More of a general comment based on several decades of observation. It's pretty much impossible to have a sensible discussion on immigration as whoever I'm speaking to seems to immediately get quite emotional on one side of the topic or the other.

Often they don’t pay much up front, if any. How they are made to pay the smugglers back when they get to their destination is another matter. A very unpleasant matter.

Problem is that once they are tied up with a people smuggling / modern slavery ring, they are vulnerable. As is their family back home. And they need to be helped. Whatever the original motivation was. Viscious circle.
Yes, I'm aware that there is no simple model of payment. I think the Chinese cockle pickers were in this category as were the Vietnamese victims of the freezer deaths previously.

'We' can't send 'them' back to France because we're no longer in the EU.
Making the UK even more attractive to illegal immigration.

Black humour stretches across of quite a spectrum. I find Anthony Jesenik amusing but it’s not based on real happenings. So I’m throwing my best Aushwitz gags away. It really is time for me.

Er, hello.

Didn’t you read all the threads and posts about Marseille? The ones before the match anyway.
