Apparently, Windows 8 is shite according to the reviews.

I love it when you hear this sort of comment from someone who's obviously not tried it, but then again don't bother you've made your mind up already.

Having used Win8 for months now I couldn't disagree with you more, along with reviews that I've seen that have been very positive. Can't wait to get my hands on the Surface and some of the new breeds of laptop/tablets (yoga/twist etc...). Times for Windows users are getting better and better.

I didn't like Windows 8 on my PC but I have to admit I think Windows Mobile (which shares features from the UI with Win8) is absolutely fantastic. For this reason I would have thought a new Windows-powered tablet would be an absolute peach to use. But apparently not.

I still welcome the competition though

You can do so much more on a P.C. Mac has a walled garden and what you get is what you get, no tinkering, no imagination but it is easier and more reliable to use. However, anyone who does any work involving the need for complex programmes knows only a PC will do.

iTunes. The only software in the world where I literally SHIT MY PANTS every time it starts up. Will I lose everything forever? Will it demand a lengthy update? Who knows.

On my Samsung Galaxy S III I plug in the phone via generic mini USB, and CLICK AND DRAG mp3's/mp4's,avi's,mpegs,jpegs, basically any known video or audio media into a folder called MUSIC and it takes about two seconds.

iTunes, I put in a CD (or download it from the iShop or whatever it is called) convert it to the 'library', plug in the phone (narrowly avoiding everything getting 'synced' i.e. WIPED) then wait 4 hours for it to convert, deconvert, reconvert and transfer onto the iphone. After I have clicked eject, then, and only then, can I actually listen to the music/watch the video I have imported.

iTunes is the single biggest TURD of software I have ever had the misfortune to deal with and is the SOLE reason I will never, ever buy another Apple product. Oh, that and when I had an Apple 3G they did a firmware update which NUKED the wireless chip on the phone - and affected thousands of others*. Oh, and the iPhone 4 antenna "holding it wrong" fiasco. Oh, and the iPhone 5 "nothing works" fiasco.

*I should add the 'update' came out a few weeks before the 3GS launched

My ipod used to freeze up all the time. Was a piece of shit. I needed it for work as well . Every time i got in front of an audience, expecting some verbatim corporate roleplay script to come through my earpiece I was dreading it would freeze again. Worthless piece of crap.
