Major embarrassment for Apple

Apple products are not cool. And I'm speaking as someone who would love to have an Ipad but cannot afford one. I do not want one because it's cool, I want one because they are good, but I'd actually be a bit embarrassed to be seen with it.

Apple has gone the way of Facebook, a global giant that used to be cool once-upon-a-time. Now it has just become functional. I would agree that these rulings are an embarrassment for Apple, in that the judge is effectively saying that their products are the same as Sumsung's.

Well, Apple should certainly be embarrassed that the iPhone 4S I've had for about four weeks is now unable to make calls of any kind. I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me. Apparently it's a well known issue, caused by some sort of problem with the headphone jack. So I have to venture to the creepy Apple Store and wait for one of the high priests there to sanctify it, or replace it with another phone that will presumably have the potential for the same problem.

a) This is about tablets, not phones.
b) If you want to look at phones, look at profit. Despite Samsung's tactics of throwing out about a zillion phones of every size and shape, Apple still make buckets of cash more than them on phone sales.

I'm only trying to get you off your pedestal.

For what it's worth I've never owned a Samsung smartphone or tablet, whereas I do own an iPhone, iPod and MacBook. I have much love for Apple products, but I also fear they might well have peaked as a company and once you start chasing profits and market share you tend to lose your edge.

On point B, you can only create serious money once you have established a dominant market share position when going against a firm that was so dominant. Samsung needed to break Apples strangehold on the market which they have done incredibly well. Now the cat is out of the bag that Samsung phones are as good if not better than Apple, and Apple are spectacuarly failing to innovate beyond Samsungs product offering I confidently predict the market share shift will continue on its current trend. That cant be anything but bad news for Apple and ultimately will mean Samsung will be the company earning the cash from phones in five years time.

I just love the blind idolisation of all things Apple by Bozza,... for me, the turning point has been the increasingly arrogant approach in all aspects of the Steve Jobs/Apple corporate mission,..... the products are good certainly, nobody disputes that, but no more so than a raft of others competing for a share of the market. Apple simply win by bullying. Every little victory against them makes me smile. ( now I await the usual spikey personal attack from he who should be obeyed)

Apple's downfall won't be far away. If not in the home computer sector most definately in the phone/tablet sector.

Appletards they've been dubbed at work.

Social retards who can't go out or function without their poxy phone.

Haha!

When someone bangs on about the miracle of Iphones (don't get me wrong they are nice and I would buy one if I wasn't given free phones every 6 months) always reminds me of that guy who told his son, I think in that book, Shit my Dad says,

"Stop banging on about your Goddam phone, you bought it, you didn't invent the f***ing thing. Any idiot in the entire world can buy one"

It's NSC's classic anti-Apple one-two.

The semi-literate rantings of Albion Dan. From the poor language, typos and spelling errors - it's clear he bangs out his missives in a state of gradually building rage. He'll deny it of course, but it's a pattern that has continued for some time. Bless.

And then...the dot dot dot jottings of he who inhabits the same Somerset village as me....He'll talk about bully boy tactics yet always completely ignores that Android is the dominant player in smartphones, and that Motorola (wholly owned by Google) are trying to stop Apple selling any device at all in the United States...is that not bullying...?

(And with that I'm out of this and off to PC World to see if they have a Chromebook to play with)
