Deadly Chinese Wuhan virus

with a massive lag, think time series data.

And yes I think the term bed wetting was made for this topic.

Is that really applicable? If it’s still around in say 6 months it might be but as of this moment the sample size and lack of correlation would say not. Saying that I’m not a statistician and so may well be wrong.

Interesting a number of experts predicted that the infection rate would tail off after 10-14 days ... some 2 weeks ago. This appears to be happening in China so it would appear we are following normal characteristics of flu breakouts.

What happens outside of China is another matter ...

If this had been SARS the mortality rate would have been around 4,000.

Indeed a bed wetter paradise.

Every single time there’s a breakout of some virus we have this same level of fear mongering, we are DOOMED.

The percentage of blokes that don't wash their hands after a crap is horrific.

Even higher after a pee. After using a ESU cubicle and then try to wash my hands in a sink, about 90% of men push past having used the troughs then just go directly back to the concourse. Mind you if there were more than 2 sinks and room to use them it might encourage more to wash.

Fair enough, I just assumed that seeing someone wash their hands, wear a mask or take similar hygienic efforts during a world flu outbreak wouldn't cause you to take a 'double take' or assume that said person wants to become a CEO.

My apologies if I misunderstood.

Wearing a mask is pretty unusual on a trading floor in the City of London......

It's just occurred to me that the title of this thread can be sung to Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and now I can't stop reading it as such

You look far more of a **** walking around in Hong Kong without one.

Aaah, but we’re not in HK! As an aside though, it’s bonkers to think billions of people buying something that’s a chocolate fireguard - all the money and waste etc. We’re a strange species, guess that’s the power of fear though. In the medieval ages when the great pestilence approached people bought all sorts of animal bones peddled as the right toe of Saint Dave and the like, believing it protect them from death. Those masks are a fantastic bit of marketing really, just like bottled water.

Just reading on the BBC website a series of questions on Coronavirus. Someone has asked if the virus can be sexually transmitted!!!

Response should be, if wanting a shag, then wear full Haz Mat suit, safety glasses and face mask, and get it done within 15minutes, at greater than 2metres.

That wouldn't be a problem for me

There's been worse - the South African health minister between 1999-2008, Manto 'Dr Beetroot' Tshabalala-Msimang, advocated beetroot and garlic as an alternative to ARV's to combat AIDS and doubted the HIV virus led to it.

Yes. Now that WAS criminal as they knew they were peddling lies. Was the Church involved in that one as well?

Always amazes me how obsessed the Americans are about hygiene . Most Brits walk out of the bogs in bars in NYC without washing their hands after a slash, the Americans seem to have this whole hand washing ritual that lasts forever. On top of that a lot of them carry small bottles of hand sanitizer with them at all times. I should have bought shares in Purell.
