I'm fully expecting the Premier League to be wiped out... for spectators.

TV companies will demand the games are played behind closed doors. They'll get a record number of viewers too, as everyone will be at home bored.

At least we will know what’s going on - much easier being on the sofa when VAR is operating

I agree. Start from scratch, so Champions Elect sadly will have to say bye-bye to their title, and we put off relegation for another season!

The legal challenges would be unreal, and from Leeds and West Brom too if they weren't allowed to go up.

No, what they'd have to do is allow two clubs at least to be promoted and have a 22-team Premier League next season with four or five going down.

The Swiss have effectively cancelled their league season, despite ‘only’ 24 cases reported in the country so far. All games have been postponed until 23rd March, a date by which the situation is likely to be significantly worse, not better.

There’s too much TV money at stake as far as the Premier League is concerned, and I’d expect games to take place behind closed doors as opposed to blanket cancellation. I can see the Euro’s in the summer being an eerie prospect, played out in empty stadiums. I have tickets, but that seems an incredibly trivial concern right now.

I’m by no means a hand wringer, but these are unprecedented times for virtually everyone alive on the planet today. Scary stuff.

That pretty much sums up where I am.

I wish I had the optimism of Guinness Boy and Ninja Elephant, but I'm finding it difficult to see how, sooner or later, we don't go through a period more challenging than most of us have ever had to deal with.

In which case it would an absolutely pointless endeavour. If that were to be the situation, they'd be better off binning the whole tournament to be honest.

I don’t disagree, but think of it from a TV money perspective. You could can it, or let it go ahead in an atmosphere-less environment whilst 80% of the global population are confined to their homes.

In times of almost certain economic disruption that seems like a financial bonanza that I can’t see TV companies or UEFA walking away from. Of course it all depends just how entrenched we are in this virus come the summer - there will not be much point in staging the Euros or Olympics if half the athletes are infirmed with the damn thing.

its looking increasingly likely now that might be the case.

the football is hardly that important at such times, but what do we mere mortals do? accept covid19 will happen and hope that we and our family members come out the other side?, or still try everything to personally avoid getting it?

We need to try everything humanely possible to avoid getting it. People with conditions like CF, Asthma, COPD really shouldn't be allowed to leave their houses I don't think.
We also don't know the long term implications this will have on the lucky ones who do recover.

I'd like to see border closures, if not, at the very least anyone entering the country should have to quarantine for 21 days.
It should be enforced that if you can work from home, you should.
Only one person from each household to leave house every 2 or 3 days in worse effected areas.
Mass gatherings, social events cancelled.
Businesses to run with skeleton staff across UK

Deadly Chinese Wuhan virus - Covid-19

I only started to get concerned after watching Bor*s J*hns*n bumbling, forgetting the message and then pretending he was Churchill last night.
