I do have some sympathy on the PPE sourcing front. It is like the wild west out there, lots of middle men, lots of agents trying to sell to the NHS. Even when asked for certificates on accreditation key details are either blanked out or forged - and clearly don't match the goods when it turns up.

Unfortunately it is a buyers market out there at the moment with a lot of risk, especially as Private companies are also trying to bulk buy stuff.

A close family member of mine is directly involved in central NHS procurement / sourcing for PPE and they had something like 40,000 organisations offering to sell the NHS in the last 4 weeks. She has only managed to place 1 order that was legitimate from an existing NHS supplier. I do wonder if some temporary law should have been put in place to make sale of PPE a restricted item only to be sold to the government first as a priority.

You make very valid points but it's not sensationalist so any opinion stating this anywhere near the media will be discounted out of hand.

649 and the talk on the radio was of lifting some of the lockdown.

Remember, we are " Over the peak " ?… worryingly, this number of daily fatalities now seems to be acceptable to many. Are we becoming desensitised and uncaring ?

What was the daily rate when lockdown started ?

I can't remember, but could it have been less than it is now at the beginning ?

To be fair, that is the death toll based on infection about 30+ days ago, when you take into account the twin time lags of infection, reporting of infection, hospitalisation, death, and then the lag in reporting said deaths.

Doesn't make it any more "ok" but it is categorically not where we are at now (looks likely to be about 200-250 per day and declining, currently), on 7th May.

From the Lancet, with all that entails, but I thought this was an interesting article.

Yet we still get some saying ‘we can’t end the lockdown because X amount of people are dying’, as if the death rate would sky rocket if we did, but there is no correlation.

Almost everyone will get or will have got it at some point and then herd immunity will kick in and we won’t have to worry about it again. Unfortunately, that is life, but let’s not kid ourselves and make out this worse than what we’ve had before.

What also annoys me is the Gary Neville ‘what if a player were to contract it if football started again?’ thing. What?! How many fit and healthy 20-30 year old men have died from this virus? It’s bizarre.

Yeah, I watched a video of a Russian scientist explaining the dangers of 5G. He mentioned something about how 5G can send information through your brain. It won't work out in the countryside because it requires humans close by. I'm no expert on this so this could and hopefully not be true.

He maybe Russian but he’s certainly no scientist, a complete spanner yes, scientist no. In world of ‘total bollocks’ this comes very close to the top. The reason it doesn’t work in the countryside is because the lack of masts not people!
Suggest you stop trawling YouTube for stuff on 5g as it won’t end well.

I really hope you're correct and he is wrong. I really do hope we're not rolling out something which potentially damages our health during a time like this. Just wish the people who discredit the conspiracies would show a bit more proof to back up their assurance. Why is their proof always something personnel about someone (in this case a scientist) and never anything to prove these theories wrong? They complain that the conspiracy theories lack any real backup or proof don't they?

Did you read this post a page or 2 back?

One of my customers is on the design team for the 5G network for O2 he said there are major problems with it which are being brushed under the carpet and some of the conspiracy theories are in fact close to the mark
