Don't book anything new for anywhere next month! A lot of places might still be in lockdown.

(Also, beware of insurance companies excluding pandemics...)

Booked months ago.

I couldn't be less of a fan of the moron but both he and the Health Officers have explained clearly and scientifically their rationale. All seems to make sense (but what do most of us know) but the hysterical shouting of a small number on here clearly know better.

Mr Johnson says they are only "considering the question of banning major events, including sporting fixtures" - not because of the spread of the virus, but because of the burden it puts on public services.

Didn't Jimmy Krankie say something similar earlier?

A small number on here.... and governments around the world. :ffsparr:

I guess time will tell who has it correct. I have no clue but they are still explaining in some detail their thinking, this is not some Trump-like "look the other way, everything will be fine" nonsense, there is a scientific basis for what they are saying.

Yes, I read that.

Was advising against booking a new alternative - UK or otherwise.

Oh I see...sorry

Yes we will hang fire and see what happens

Cheers

Pretty direct wording from Johnson. There does seem to be a surprising number of people about who don’t think this is actually serious in any way...

"But it is now a global pandemic and the worst public health crisis for a generation."

He adds: "I must level with you, the British public, more families will lose their loved ones before their time."

What do you think about his approach of letting this spread? As you know I'm pretty pragmatic as still don't believe we will get anywhere close to the worst case projections but I'm pretty suprised we are going it alone and letting the thing continue to spread without any form of people management control.

Cheerful news from Johnson...….."We have done what can be done to contain disease, which has bought us valuable time.
"But it is now a global pandemic and the worst public health crisis for a generation."
He adds: "I must level with you, the British public, more families will lose their loved ones before their time."

A politician being totally open and honest, isn’t that what we have been crying out for?

I have not been a big Boris fan but he’s doing OK in the current crisis imo

Chances are that most of us are going to be getting this virus sooner or later imo

Why would you cancel if you've lost your money anyway? Wouldn't it be better to leave it and see if the airline or holiday company cancels, obligating them to refund you? Or maybe you are avoiding further charges by cancelling now?

I left until the day before travel

WTF !!!! Just been shopping at first Aldi and then Sainsburys. It's like a bloody war zone out there. In both places fresh food was low as was tea and coffee. Neither had any toilet or kitchen rolls. Aldi were low on many frozen items and tinned food ( hope you don;t want tinned tomatoes ). Aldi did have loads of pasta .... no rice though. No cooking oils.

Sainsburys might as well close if they aren't going to re-stock anything. It would take me all night to list the items missing from there. Even pet food was running low ( apologies, I brought the last packet of dry cat food ! ).

Really, these panic buy w@nkers need stringing up !
