Although i would be happy to see Lualua return i am now not too bothered after seeing jamie smith play a few times.

As much as I have been impressed with Smith, I don't think he is the answer to our left wing problems.

Smith's done a shift, but he certainly is not going to be of Championship quality.

Walsall, Brentford etc is going to be his level I reckon.

Don't think that is correct. You cannot add to the 25 man squad until the next transfer window and then when that closes you can nominate a new 25 man squad. Of the 25, 8 must be home grown players, ie have been registered with English clubs in the 3 years up until their 21st birthday although not necessarily with the same club. Only in exceptional circumstances can you add to the squad outside the transfer windows, ie all your goalkeepers are injured.

Not sure of the exact ruling but this chap said that you can play players who are under a certain age and been with the club for 3 years. No that it will affect us for a few seasons other than in the case like Lua Lua. I am not a great fan of his but realise that he is exciting to watch but I would sooner bring somebody in as cover for Sparrow & Navarro who we showed that we missed yesterday. Dicker did ok but is not as effective as either of them and Kishishev began to show signs of tiring and with Dicker being on the bench would have been the ideal replacement.

Hope something happens this week to remedy this.

Smith is an able substitute to bring on if we need extra width or cover for Bennett but he is not the answer for our central midfield, as he showed yesterday.

This will cause some arguments how about a short term deal for Nicky Butt.

Not like you to be so negative J! He looks bloody good for someone who's only played 3 1/2 senior games.

Oh he's certainly done a more than able job! But let's face it, we need a left winger. And Lua Lua would fill that position excellently, with Smith as capable back up. Wheras at someone like Brentford, I could see him taking a more permanent role in the first team.

As Gus said, he wants competition for places.

What game do you watch, every week on here it seems to be a different one to the game most people see.

Smith was our most prominent midfielder yesterday, maybe a tad lightweight, but a decent player.

Brentford will be there or there abouts for 6th place this season, they're not a bad side at all IMO (obviously not started well). Smiths done well, but i feel he lacks that instant spark where he could beat 2 men and do something special, which Lua Lua gives.

Exactly.

Although I think Brentford will finish around 12th.

But having beaten 2 men twice, Lua Lua is likely to kick the ball into touch or over hit the cross, where as Smith seems to have some ability to deliver a ball.

Having had a look at this a bit more, the premier league make no reference to being allowed to add as many under 21s in addition to the named 25 but the BBC do. No doubt we will soon find out who is right.

Kish AND Dicker were both excellent yesterday... we certainly didn't miss Navs as much as Gus feared we would... now, Sparrow offers more threat going forward, and we missed that...

Smith was good yesterday, and it seems to me he is the ONLY reason Gus is prepared to wait for Lua Lua...

a) it's not his decision
b) would you rather play in league 1 or the premiership?

He won't play in the Prem at this stage in his career... maybe at some time in the future... who knows? However, I agree it is not his decision...

I think LuaLua coming to us as a season long loan is on the cards , Gus is happy with Jamie Smith on the wing until he arrives because we would have signed someone else in the meantime.
