Having been slightly burnt from repeating what I overheard about adam barrett on my visit to the Amex I am a little reluctant to tell you all this... but hey, in for a penny!

My nephew is at uni (or could be college) in Newcastle. He rents a room of a guy who works for the Chronicle up there. The other day, out of the blue, this guy stops my nephew and says 'Brighton are trying to get Lua Lua on a permie... by the way.'

And that it appears was the extent of the conversation. Now my nephew not being a football fan didn't think to ask more and it would appear his blank response to the statement stopped the info flow in its tracks. He is now bck down south for the summer so I can't nag him to dig deeper.

Obviouly the whole world knows we want him, but it is often quoted that the deal will be a season long loan. It might be that is all Newcastle want, but it appears we may have put a bid in. Maybe that is where the big spend is going to be. Either way, I told my nephew he was a twat for not asking more.

Seems only fair.

If Newcastle were prepared to sell him, I think Championship clubs would be all over them. I think another loan is our best opportunity.

Having said that, I don't think he will be with us this season, which would be a shame.

I assume by 'Yeeeeah' you are questioning my post.

It does amuse me that without naming a source a person is slated and with naming a source they are doubted.

mmm would be good, and he just might fancy coming back to play for Gus instead of a championship team where he may only be on the bench, after all Newcastle were a Championshjp team last season!

Only teasing. The 'my nephew rents a room off a bloke who works for the Chronicle' just sounds like the classic 'my mate's step sister was talking to a cabbie's dog...' sort of line.

Nothing new , he won't sign a permanent deal as we are struggling to get him on a loan let alone permanent.

And how on earth can you say that? We have been told that they are assessing him 'till the end of the month. If they don't think he is up to the Prem, they may as well sell him as loan him out.

No actually because he is only 18/19. He has got potential to play for someone in the Premier League in a few years time even if it is someone like Wigan/West Brom/Blackpool.

Well, how about Brighton? Wigan and Blackpool were much smaller clubs than us not so long ago. Clearly Gus and Tony Bloom are intending to move our Club forward within the next few years - so, here's hoping he can play in the Prem for Brighton.

Yes i know but we can't even think about the Premiership because the last two years we have wanted to target the play offs and look where we finished. I mean this year will obviously be much different but we're not even in the Championship yet so we can't say that.

Ok, maybe not in the next couple of years, but five may be realistic. Anyway, Newcastle may decide he will never be good enough to make the grade in the Prem and move him on. For me, and accepting he is not yet 20, he has little more than raw talent and pace, so an "expert" may decide that the raw talent is not strong enough to suggest he will ever be good enough for the Prem? Just like Arsenal dropped Sidwell and Upson.

I see where your coming from but i reckon it will be another year or two until Newcastle decide whether LuaLua is good enough or not.

Well, they are not the most wealthy of clubs in the Prem, and they may decide to take the money if TB offers enough?

Remember that Wolves made a pretty quick decision on Bennett when they made the Premiership. If he doesn't reach the required standard for that grade of football then why retain someone that uses up the wages.

As per usual the NSC 'experts' are giving out information for which there s no basis, very tedious.
