[Brighton] Lost buiildings of Brighton?

Brighton Maternity Hospital in Buckingham Road where I was born in 1942.

During the 1970’s it was demolished and a hideous building built to replace it.
Worked there for short spells on and off while my wife was imprisoned for a longer stretch.
Thankfully the building is being replaced.

Lewes Road Viaduct. Then they built the 'new' Sainsburys and the gyrotory

This art deco building on Kingsway, Hove designed in 1928 for the motor trade and used by Caffyns was demolished around 2006....



and eventually replaced with Saxon Court flats...

Another art deco building, the old Granada Cinema on Portland Road, Hove...



Most on here will remember it as the ABC Cinema in the 6Os and 70s for saturday morning pictures...



Then transformed into a bingo hall, then years of neglect before demolishment and replacement with these flats and medical centre...

The one on Lewes road was the
Gaity then went to the brown mac on you lap type.

The one on Lewes Road was the Vogue wasn’t. Specialised in saucy films for a while.

I never went to that cinema but on car journeys as a nipper with my Dad, I remember seeing the Vogue directly in line as we drove down Bear Road. Before the gyratory obviously.

The Embassy on Western Road (close to the Hove/Brighton border). It became a laser gaming place in the 90’s.
