That’s your take … because of one product you have.

No it's not my take, it's fact. Not all 0% fat is bad. It's good to raise that a lot of it is, because they've done to much to remove the fat, or they've added other bad stuff, just as a lot of sugar free stuff has artificial sweeteners in.

I didn’t realise it was necessary to caveat every comment on here.

You don't. But I think it's right for me to say that not all 0 fat yoghurt is a no no.

That’s it from me on this. I’m not going to waste any more time playing ping pong on a 0% yoghurt.

Ok.

That’s basically the point I was trying to make. Trying to be helpful to those that might just seek out low fat products thinking they must be more healthy. But I failed to dot all the i’s and cross the t’s for @Triggaaar and therefore I was spreading misinformation.

Oh so it wasn't the last thing then. Obviously you were trying to be helpful, as am I.

I think this is a rather novel idea ! I like the idea of the target being 7lbs.

My only concerns are that those participating understand......this isn't a competition to lose the most weight.

I really need to lose about 30lbs, so 7lbs will be much easier for me to attain than those who only have 8 or 9 lbs to lose.

Indeed, just look at it as joining others in trying to improve your health.

Like doing 'dry January', but less insane. If there's one month in this country where we need alcohol, it's January.

Bloody hell … do you think I’m a little school kid that hasn’t completed his homework correctly :(

Can you (or anyone else) recommend a decent indoor bike that doesn't break the bank? All the more tempting as we move into the winter months.
I’ve gone one of these in my home gym

Had it for 4 years no issues (except not using it enough!)

I think the best thing I could do to improve my health would be to reduce the amount of ultra processed food I eat (and same goes for the family).

Finding bread that isn't ultra processed would be nice (I don't think Tesco sell a single loaf of it).

Any tips of cutting down UPF would be nice (obviously cooking everything from scratch would work, but that's hard work, so any 'processed' as opposed to 'ultra processed' options would help.
I got a seeded loaf from m and s which didn’t contain maltodextrin- I wouldn’t say it wasn’t upf as has extracts and seed oils but this could be a good half way measure if you are desperate for bread? (Or sourdough from a bakery or some supermarket ones are ok)

I’m a firm believer in everyone has a different issue so when you see influencers going “cut out carbs/eat lower calories/walk x steps/…/etc” some things work for some people and not others so they are both correct and incorrect at the same time.

Some people do better on things like keto while some don’t.

Just because high fat diets work for some it doesn’t mean low fat doesn’t work for others - everyone has to figure out what is right for them.

I’ll be doing a high fat/protein diet as that has worked for me in the past but no hate for anyone doing the opposite

I've never been very overweight, but when I want to lose weight (dropped from 72kg to 60 once) I just dropped my calories, while eating a reasonable amount of protein.

I understand that some will be better with a specific diet.

Anyone fancy joining me in trying to lose half a stone in November? A bit of pre-Christmas discipline.

All you have to do is post your weight change on here each day in November. No need to fess up your current weight, unless you want to. Just the running total loss (or gain).

A bit of accountability and support could really help.

Yes 100% I'm in. Will probably post weight change weekly as dont think daily weighing is a good idea.

Cheers

I'm in. Although I've hopefully already started. Sunday to Thursday this week had to go away for work and there's no alcohol... the only issue is there's a free restaurant morning, lunch, tea time and dinner time! I'm skipping lunch and tea but just 3 days with no alcohol and I can feel my belly is less gassy already. I will try and stay off the alcohol during the week from now on and get some exercise in and see how I go. Trouble is I'm living on my own so can be a bit boring so I tend to go out most nights.

I know it's not the same but if you're heading out, alcohol-free lager has come on a long long way in the last few years IMO, and I don't think the stigma surrounding is anything like it used to be.

Anyone genuinely taking the piss out of you for drinking alcohol-free beer is being a bit of a bell anyway. IMO.

Previously I have ordered a half pint of normal lager in a pint glass and then added a bottle of alcohol-free lager to it. It's not ideal but I found it much more palatable than drinking pure A-F lager. Obviously it didn't stop my alcohol intake completely but it did halve it ( I tended to do it if I was driving and fancied drinking a couple of pints).

Best A-free beer I've found so far is BrewDog Punk AF.

I bought three large tubs of sweets in advance of Halloween so as not to get caught out.
There is very little left and I've developed a real taste for gummy tarantulas.

If you like pasta and don’t like the idea of all those carbs, there’s a simple trick to fool your body into behaving it’s more like fibre. Great for weight loss and managing diabetes. Basically, cook it, cool it, reheat it later. Simples. Verified by the ‘Trust me I’m a Doctor’ series.

That's amazing. The article is 10 years old, so if it works why haven't we heard more about it?
