Why on earth in the media reports are we being told Hollywood actor so and sos house was destroyed and Megan and Harry are concerned.......

As stated bollox to them this a terrible tragedy affecting ordinary people
I was devastated the other day by the thought that Paris Hilton might be having to sleep in. Shop doorway! ;)

Felt slightly more sympathy for Anthony Hopkins, though.

Blimey - what hope do we have when there are still people, presumably relatively intelligent, still engaging in climate change denial.

This article isn't after-timing, it was written before the fires started:

California is entering the fourth month of what is typically the rainy season, but in the Southland, the landscape is beginning to show signs of drought.
The last time Los Angeles recorded rainfall over a tenth of an inch — the threshold that officials typically consider helpful for thirsty plants and the reduction of wildfire risk — was May 5, when downtown received just 0.13 inches of rain.
“It’s safe to say this is [one of] the top ten driest starts to our rainy season on record,” said Ryan Kittell, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Oxnard. “Basically, all the plants are as dry as they normally are in October.”
California’s wet season can run from October to April, although most of the precipitation occurs from December to February.
Current forecasts show little hope that a needed storm could develop in the next few weeks, and the Southern California landscape — ripe for wildfire and never far from chronic water shortages — is paying the price.

It promises to be a difficult wild fire season in Arizona as well this year - we haven't had any measurable rainfall since August 22 - that's now 141 days and counting.

We are all over consuming energy and moreover energy we once never demanded. Take this post and a million others like it! On a device we all charge daily. That had to be manufactured. All 10 billion of us. We will never ever stop climate change because of such wasteful vanity. We just have to cope with the consequences, but it’ll be ugly for sure. Billions will most likely die as Mother Nature restores order and/or wars engulf us as food runs short and China, US and Russia make their moves. Welcome to the early-mid 21st Century everyone, no one can say they weren’t warned or didn’t contribute to. Situation is beyond critical. If you’re not worried then I truly wish I was you because I definitely suffer both depression and anxiety from climate change when seeing the news / experiencing the frequent extreme weather we now have.
