I just heard about the owner of a small record label that promotes new young Rockabilly artists many Latino and including the amazing Delta Bombers.
I have personally met Reb who is originally from Ireland a few times, he does not make a fortune, it is all for the love of the music and lifestyle.
So many ordinary folks have been affected not just the super stars.

"The fires in California are relentless, thousands of family’s homes and businesses burnt to the ground …
But one family in particular lost not only their home and personal belongings… they lost 25 years worth of hard work and dedication to the rockin music scene..
Reb Kennedy and his family have dedicated countless hours recording bands from all over the world, 30+ bands from rockabilly to rock n roll to soul to RnB.. The passion of WILD records spreads as far as Japan and as near as your local barbershop.
These bands (myself included) spent a good portion of our lives in this studio recording, laughing, crying, drinking, filming documentary’s and even fighting .. but all for the love of music!
The family now is in need of your help to rebuild not just a home but a studio for all the Wild artists to keep on recording their passion!
I want to ask all the music lovers around the world to please help spread this go fund me created by Marlene Perez to help rebuild what once was… A Home for music!"

A few years ago he made a film about his records label

Thanks for this. Interesting, but sad, read. I have made a small donation to help get Wild Records back up and running.

Climate change and it's associated disasters will continue to disproportionately affect the poor, but the better off won't be immune either.

America should have woken up and got it's head out of it's arse a couple of months ago. But now would be better than nothing

Wow that is very kind of you, it was not my intention for anyone to donate, just a little story how the fires have affected a lot of people.

Thanks again.
That's fine, I read his story, watched the trailer (I'll try and find the film to watch in full) and decided I wanted to make a small donation. We need more people like Reb.

The oft remarked:

"It's too expensive to fix climate change"

Is the very definition of insanity, and ought to replace Albert Einstein's famous analogy instead. It's a better one for the times we're living in.

Later? The residents of LA need to know now if you care for them or not. LA is burning, next week or whenever you can finally be arsed, mght be too late.
They do not need to know my or your opinion on definition at all, we do not make that decision. I’m just not getting involved in a debate about whether a $300k house owning local business owner qualifies for aid because of guidelines, or whether a celebrity who lost a $4m home but has $6m in the bank but no insurance should receive money from the public/government purse.

I heard an American on the radio, who had her home burnt down. She didn't want to talk about causes because that has become 'political'.
She sounded like she accepts the notion of global warming, but won't mention it for fear of being accused of being political.

That's the Trump effect.

Interesting times ahead.
And fires. Lots of fires.

Perhaps this will take the wind out of Trump's sails on that issue.
I salute your compassion and ability to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, globally, I suspect you are in a minority of 1. The rest of the world will be thinking there is no fukken change that narcissistic bunglekunnt would even contemplating reassessing his position on that.

BUT, why are there still trees in the 'after' pic when the houses have all burned down? I'm sure there's a reason and would love to know what it is.
Some trees have evolved to be fire resistant, coupled with the high winds the fire was moved on by the winds before it had a chance to catch.

Oak, walnut, mahogany are hardwoods so are fire resistant. Poplar, maple, aspen, alder and cherry are also fire resistant. Coniferous or evergreen trees with cones and needles are highly flammable.

Quebec plane fighting L.A. fires grounded after being struck by drone

Canada sent a firefighting plane to help with the effort. Then some CJTC flew a drone into it, forcing it to be grounded until it can be repaired.
It also grounded all firefighting aircraft for 30 minutes until they could confirm the skies were clear.

It's a federal crime, punishable by up to 12 months in prison to interfere with firefighting efforts on public land and they can impose a civil penalty of $75,000 to the drone pilot.

These disasters are heartbreaking. Seeing someone confirm that their fire insurance cover had been revoked is terrible. The whole thing is a disaster.
