These are 'normal people'. Yes, many celebrities have lost their homes, but 99% of these towns are normal, hard working people.
Take a look at this
The guy with a hose pipe trying to save his house. That Altadena image, OK some have pools but are they all millionaire superstars, no.

Maybe by saying Hollywood actor x has lost everything people can get some sort of idea it's a human. Saying burger flipping Joe Bloggs in house 14827 Somewhere Street means nothing.
In that BBC link there's a before and after pic where you can drag the screen from left to right to see the impact.

BUT, why are there still trees in the 'after' pic when the houses have all burned down? I'm sure there's a reason and would love to know what it is.

Anyhow, it's tragic, but sadly we need this kind of tragedy to make the richest nation on earth truly wake up to climate change. Perhaps this will take the wind out of Trump's sails on that issue.

None, who gives one f***ing shit what Megan and Harry think when this sort of crisis is happening ?
To be fair to them - and I have NO time for them - they've only released a statement suggesting how people can help.

But, like you, I don't wish to hear from them and I wish they drop the whole 'Sussex' name.

I favour sheet metal.

Not as comfortable, granted, but on the upside it saves on the washing and ironing and lasts longer.

I suspect it will give him more of an excuse to remove funding from Ukraine as he will need to help re-build the government funds, although he won't care about the West coast, he doesn't live there

Just like last year’s fires.

And the year before that.

And Hurricane Milton.

And Hurricane Helene.

And the wildfires for the 20 years previously.

And…

And I guess you can say the same about gun control.

Las Vegas Strip massacre

Sandy Hook

Virginia Tech massacre

Robb Elementary school

Orlando nightclub

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

San Bernardino

etc etc.

so I guess you might be right.

Isn't it rather disgusting to have wished ill on e.g. Mark Hamil just because famous / wealthy? Poor bloke and his family escaped with his life but they've lost their home and lifetime possessions. They'll be traumatised!

Trees have actually evolved to survive forest fires.

The Columbine massacre took place closer to the impeachment of President Nixon than to today.

The houses in the pictures are made almost entirely from wood and plasterboard - 90% of houses in the US have wooden frames. You occasionally see the remains of brick-built chimney stack but apart from that, everything burns and wooden framed houses burn more easily than trees.

Lots of people do. But not me, I should add.

A bit like how all the school shootings helped them wake up to the problems of guns?

Yeah, never gonna happen.

Edit: sorry @Hamilton I didn't see your post

Indeed - there's a reason that timber is seasoned for firewood* - fresh wood doesn't burn very well.

[A pedant writes] I think you mean resignation of Nixon - he wasn't impeached

Although the fact that it was so long is even more damning in my eyes, shows how long school shootings have been a problem with little being done.

I care only about normal type people who have lost homes or people, whatever is normal can be defined later.
Later? The residents of LA need to know now if you care for them or not. LA is burning, next week or whenever you can finally be arsed, mght be too late.
