general election NOW. Lets wipe out the Tories for 2-3 generations. They only serve the rich and do not govern for the benefits of the people of this country. They have cost our country billions, pushed millions into poverty and created a divided nation.

Lets take the power back
Absolutely bob on, needs to be forever tho. The Tory "wets" need to form a small, sensible party of opposition, the conservative and unionist party, and rid themselves, once an for all of the nutjob UKIP/BNP fringe. Johnson and now truss have adequately demonstrated that they are psychologically unfit to govern, and yet the Tory party still voted for them! Political historians will study the Cameron, May, Johnson, truss era for generations to come

only by those that want to lazily cast it as evil without thought. neoliberalism is about free trade, open markets, deregulation. facism is about centralised authority, oppression, protectionist and nationalism. one is economic freedoms, one is social controls. the tenents of facism block the tenents of neoliberalism.

Neo-liberal economics co-exists with Right-wing authoritarian politics and social policies as the Tories have shown over recent years.

Economically - Free-markets, slavish subservience to the needs or demands of big business, priority of maximising share-holder value (even if it means making workers redundant to free-up money spent on wages), privatise or contract-out public services, hold down wages to maximise profits, tax cuts which mainly benefit the better-off (accompanies by nonsense about "trickle down"), small businesses and the self-employed often driven-out by big business and monopolies which distort and rig the market, and wield enormous power over elected governments, and growing inequality.

Politically/socially - endless curbs on workers' rights and reduced employment protection, attacks on 'independent' media to render them compliant to the government (Tories who complain about BBC or Channel 4 political bias never complain about the political bias of the Daily Mail or Daily Telegraph - they want all media to display support for the current regime; no alternative views or opinions can be tolerated), dismissal of senior civil servants who dare to disagree with Ministers by pointing-out that policies are unworkable, bypassing or unlawfully suspending Parliament to avoid defeats by elected representatives, creating new criminal offences to limit or lock-up opponents and curb the right to protest, placing new conditions on the right to vote in general elections (ID - knowing that certain sections of society are less likely to have such ID, so won't be able to vote), increasing interference in what schools and universities can -and cannot - teach (a few years ago, a Tory MP urged students to send him the names of pro-EU Lecturers), constant attacks on welfare provision and claimants coupled with denigration of the poor, promoting social division via "culture wars" and the identification of '"enemies within", endless claims about "the national interest", patriotism and flag-waving, and the relentless smearing of critics and opponents as being extremists, traitors, unpatriotic or "Woke".

Neoliberalism creates so much inequality, poverty and injustice that it then needs a strong authoritarian State to defend it and curb or crush all sources of opposition; it is this which can then slide into Fascism.

My point was that somehow a discussion on whether Rayner was behaving in the correct manner to her responsible position was somehow skewed off to something totally leftfield and whataboutery.
Desperate times indeed. It's odd how much time you've invested in defending these unpatriotic idiots over the years, having, not once, voted for them, very strange indeed

Apparently Thérèse Coffey has just arrived. No word on if she had a fishing rod or fried chicken with her.
given that the then Deputy PM didn't take over from Borris, is there precedent for the Deputy PM to actually take office as PM rather than just stand in for holibobs and the like?
To me it seems that would be their primary role should a PM resign but it doesn't seem to happen

Oh Wow. You have even surpassed your own Olympic level trolling.

Complaining that your Whataboutery about Raynor on the Liz Truss thread has been "skewed off" by further Whataboutery about someone else.

They will be writing textbooks on your trolling.

Lol.

The chair of the Conservative party, Jake Berry, has arrived at Downing Street.

Sir Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee, has now been inside No 10 for about an hour.

so neoliberalism might lead to fascism? maybe, thats pretty much the opposite of saying neoliberalism is a new name for fascism. it might lead to some other reaction. the list of social policies is about authoritarism, familar with left or right flavours. only exception of employment protection.

Meanwhile, yet another Tory MP has publicly called for Liz Truss to go.

MP for Hartlepool Jill Mortimer said the “deteriorating situation” yesterday has left her with no choice but to submit a letter of no confidence.
