The same Alzate BG was slating as "not good enough" 7 days earlier.

You couldn't make it up and yet here is the same shite, over and over again.

Generally I dont think that he is and will be the one to make way when Propper is fit but it cannot be denied he had a good game against Spurs but you would never accept that he is entitled to have 1 good game without it being wrong to say so.

I've given BG a bit of stick on NSC and regret it. I apologize. He was better than me by rising above it. Not taking him off ignore though.

My point is (and you seem to be saying the same) even talking about 'only' £20m for a 21 year old with 4 years left on his contract and an obvious clear pathway to regular first team Premier League football, is still small club mentality.

It would seem this is a conversation we may have to get used too, Alzate being next child-man up.

I'll try an simplify my take, as I keep being misunderstood.

Football transfers fees are stupid.
Football valuations are stupider still.
Valuing a 'kid' who's hardly kicked a ball is the stupidest of all.

But it's still going to happen.

Now Lil old Brighton are one of the world's richest clubs, for these stupid conversations to have any validity I believe you might as well enter the conversation going head-wobbling high.

I guarantee the eventual head wobble price will be a hell of a lot nearer the price paid, than those scratching their chin's plucking a Withdean/Championship figure, out of the air.

Very much all this. If Liverpool were to want him, they will need to pay enough to male us want to sell..... which we don’t need to do.

Which in turn has me wondering about the agreement that got us into this madness in the first place:-

I have a 'been paying some attention on NSC' understanding of the TV rights.
I know it's not Spain, so the attraction of the Premier League is everyone is wealthy.
I know the Big 6 now aren't particularly happy NOW.

But I'm wondering if at any point, through the collective bargaining process, Liverpool thought for one minute x years down the line they may not be able to buy a starlet from Brighton & Hove Albion because The Albion don't need the money they are offering.

It seems incredibly fanciful and yet potentially that's exactly where we're at.

So, Webster has made 6 appearances for us, only two at home, the draw against Burnley where he was up against Barnes and Woods, and your team at home who have Englands Harry Kane up front who didnt get a sniff all game, and your convinced we paid too much for him.
Thank god we have Potter and Ashworth and not you as a head scout/technical director/manager.
TBF to Ben's grandad Webster has given away 2 goals in 6 games which isnt great. Lovely maurading runs but there are still question marks over his defensive skills as well as burn.

If Liverpool come knocking and offer £20M does anyone seriously think Ben White is going to say no he wants to stay at Brighton? He's not from anywhere near Sussex (from Poole)l for a start. I guess it depends on whether he wants to naturally develop playing more 1st team football than being a bench warmer at Liverpool. I would also suggest that if he did go the club would put a hefty add on should White become an England international and get sold on etc etc. Gut instinct says he will go if the offer is high enough.
We won't sell for that amount. Would be very bad business. I imagine we will tell him to knuckle down have a season in the prem with us then he is free to leave. If he's as good as he has been for leeds 50m minimum I would imagine with hefty add ons

This. Possibly to replace Dunk, who might finally get his big money move to a big club - there are plenty with gaping holes in their defences right now. Spurs or Arsenal would be possibles - he wouldn't have to uproot his family..........and he'd double or treble his wages!

Of course he’ll go just not for 20 mil

He was abysmal for the first 20 mins but improved. Thankfully Spurs were very poor for 90 minutes due to the performances of Mooy, Gross Stephens and Alzate. To answer roger six I do not think that Spurs would be interested in Duffy and would suggest Leeds more likely if we recalled Ben White. As per my posting on another thread I think that during the summer, or possibly January, 2 of Duffy, Burn and Balogun will be sold.
Spurs didn’t get near our box for the first 20 minutes

I really hope White continues to improve over the season. If he does he'll have a huge chance of being a starting premier league footballer next year.

As much as I hate to say it (as I bloody love the big man) but if we're going to be selling a defender for 20m+ it makes more sense to sell Duffy before he becomes a forgotten man. He doesn't appear to fit with Potter's style and with White and possibly Clarke coming through we'd still have ample defensive options.

This. Duffy is superb - and I do love the bloke - but he is one that Potter doesn't like. Easy to see why - he loves a ball playing defender and that is not the way he plays. Bong is another who will be gone at the end of the year.

I know that you are not Burn’s biggest fan. His supporters will point to his brilliant cross for Connolly to almost score (and then actually score) in first half but I assume you must have been very upset with him in the 2nd half when at 3-0 up, he let the world class Harry Kane spin him (only to shoot over the goal as the amazing covering Dunk got in the way and put him off).

The point is, Burn is clearly a preferred Potterball player, the manager certainly likes him a lot. He has stated every EPL game. The only way he’d be off is if a defensive, regressive and pragmatic manager were to take over in the summer? Who would you like to take the reigns?

Doubt we'll get a transfer fee for Balogun as he's out of contract in the summer I think.
