I used to be a huge fan of ADF in the mid 90s. Buzzin' still remains a favourite song of mine and Rafis Revenge and Community Music are a couple of great albums which document the times. I saw them do a very powerful regular gig at ULU around the time of the Saptal Ram stuff as well as a heap of other things like live film scores and a rather excellent jam at the Barbican with some drummers from Chittagong. I am not sure why I lost touch with them but I will check them out again I think.

They were great, weren't they? I saw them several times in Brighton, at The Pavilion Theatre, The Concorde a couple of times, and somewhere else...one of the best live acts of the time.

Then I too sort of lost touch - until last year, when they played at The Dome to open the Festival. I wasn't expecting much, but they blew me away - they've still got it, and anyone who's never seen what that particular 'it' is should get themselves down to The Concorde on October 5th.

Anyone got a spare Dan Le Sac v Scroobius Pip ticket?

I saw ADF at The Brighton Festival too but It was several years ago. They did a live soundtrack to the film La Haine. The trouble was me and my mates thought it was a standard concert and had been drinking heavily before hand. We were so pissed that the film and subsequently the music were lost on us. We left before the end. This was no reflection on ADF but more on us and our inability to hold our drink and read the details regarding the event. We ended up clubbing the night away in The Speigletent.

Yeah they were great. I had a lot of time for them musically, live, politically and in a broader artistic way (ie the film scores and Barbican thing). I will keep an eye out for them.

Saw The Orwells in London tonight, think they're playing Brighton tomorrow.
Very good up and coming garage rock from Chicago, would recommend. Plenty of tunes and great live show.
Lead singer is a bit odd.

Glad to hear they've sold the Concorde out, the last 2 shows have been 2/3 rd's full if i'm being charitable. I snoozed and missed it but did see them 3 times at ATP in June. It will be a cracking show, they really are one of the best new(ish) live bands out there and have been for some time.

Melting Vinyl have just announced Asgeir at The Green Door Store and One Inch Badge have just announced Olafur Arnalds at All Saints Church. Both in December. Perfect, hope it's snowing :)

They are playing tonight at The Green Door Store. I saw them at The Great Escape and they are hugely entertaining. Lead singer is a bit odd but sometimes you need that. He has manic eyes- don't stare into them!

Might have to be quick with the HMHB tickets as I don't think there are many left. They don't get out too often these days so make the most of a rare opportunity to see them play in the South of England.

It's their first time in Sussex since their appearance at Southwick Barn back in February 1999 supported by none other than our own Atilla and Barnstormer. Don't think I've ever been so warm in a venue when it was freezing outside. Saw them at Kentish Town in 2008 which was a great gig and last time down this way at Shepherds Bush Empire in 2011 which wasn't as good because the sound was appalling.

I've not seen a period of gigs as full of goodness in Brighton ever as the next 2/3 months. I thought I might highlight a few that might be easily overlooked and haven't already had a mention.

Tonight - Ras G - The Haunt. Experimental hip hop, Flying Lotus eque.
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=53822
24 September - Carlton Melton - Green Door. Laid back psych-rock in the vein of Wooden Shjips/ Eternal Tapestry
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=62940
6 October - Acid Mothers Temple - Sticky Mike's. Annual return of these Japanese noise/psych-rock nutters, always a great show
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=54326
14 October - Machinedrum - The Haunt - Rare Brighton date for esteemed Amercian techno/house/footwork producer. Winner of Resident Advisors album of the year 2011 for the marvellous Rooms.
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=65910
2 Nov - The Icarus Line - The Hope - Imagine The Stooges fronted by Swan's Michael Gira. Then turn the volume up a bit
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=64942
27 Nov - Metz - The Haunt - Those that were at their astounding show at Audio earlier this year will need no encouragment. Catchy, yet brutal post hardcore.
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=58875
9 Dec - Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - The Haunt - Sabbath apeing stoner rock, a mightily good imitiation.
http://brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=64750
12 Dec - Planningtorock - Dome Studio - Fever Ray after she'd taken her anti-depressants. Signed to DFA, James Murphy is one of her many admirers

Let battle commence!
