Sorry but I'm another vote for Sidwell.
That said Bridcutt is quality and needs signing up on a longer deal.

Bridcutt is getting better all the time but difficult to compare him to past players as he is not yet the finished article and is a different player to Horton, Wilson, Case. The latter three were all both great ball winners, attackers and great leaders. Horton was the most complete midfielder to play for us in the last 50 years.

Indeed! I know it's a strange thing to say, but his balance is incredible.
He was also responsible for the second, allowed McCormack to turn him easily.
So if any scouts are watching he is a bit meh, and needs a couple of extra seasons here.

Bridcutt's attitude is superb. He just gets about his job with maximum efficiency, always giving 100%, very rarely mis placing the ball, winning the vast majority of tackles he goes in for, controlling the midfield, breaking up opposition moves and all done without any fuss or hystreonics. Never goes down, never cheating, never squeals when hit, like El Abd used to do for example. The real deal.

I agree, I am a big fan, love watching him and he has improved his strength this season. But he was at fault Friday (unfortunately it wasn't a midfielder he left for the 2nd goal but the Championship leading scorer).

I think he is quality, but I think as much as anything he fits perfectly with us. There may well be plenty of other teams scouting him but I honestly think there aren't many other teams that he would be as well suited to as us and I'm sure, with his lack of success in trials before us, that he is aware of that. He is an integral position in Poyet's style and formation and a player to build the team around, but that style and formation is key to him as well. I'm not sure he'd be so effective in other teams.
For that reason, I believe he could be with us for at least as long as Gus is, who won't want to lose him.

Coppell's side of 2002/2003 were not pisspoor. Sidwell stood out because he is a Premiership standard midfielder.
Wilson, Mortimer, maybe Carpenter at his prime then Bridcutt.

To be fair US, I'm struggling to think of a better one than Bridcutt, Danny Wilson perhaps? The boy is very very talented.

yes he was and for someone who watched the brilliance of "Nobby" Horton and thought he could never be replaced thats something
I have never seen Mr Bridcutt live so to speak so cannot comment but will say he is getting rave reviews and to be considered as good as "Nobby" must mean he is good

And he takes the smallest steps I've ever seen from a human being. When he's just jogging as opposed to running flat out, his feet are almost on top of each other.

Mortimer never did enough for me, was past it by the time he was ours. Carpenter was reasonable but was unequivocally a lower league player and would get left for dead at this level. Nice free kicks occasionally but never covered anything like the amount of ground that Bridcutt does.

Bridcutt has been a revelation, my player of the season so far. He was at fault for two of the goals against Leeds, yet still turned in a MOM performance.
I still think Sidwell is the best I've seen, but think Vicente will take that crown the way he is going

I think the Brian Horton comparison is a good one in that he developed as a player with Brighton in the same way that Bridcutt has. And I remember people saying that he would adapt quite easily to the top flight as I think Liam will. They may be different styles but they were/are at the heart of the team and the way it plays.
