Lewes District Council Cabinet Meeting Wednesday 11 January

How the hell would Stanmer Park be affected by the Stadium? what aload of bollocks LDC talk.
As dtg says, it's the new access road to Sussex University that is getting Lewes District Council so agitated.

This is, of course, ENTIRELY OUTSIDE LEWES DISTRICT.

If anything, the new access road will improve traffic conditions in Falmer village, since it won't be necessary for all traffic wanting to get into the Sussex University campus to pass through the roundabout at the edge of Falmer Village, near the Swan.

The fact that BHA are co-defendants is a clever ruse by LDC to put the Albion under more financial pressure. If this results in us being relegated all the better because they hope that our gates will drop. They have got it all worked out and are going for our jugular.

Is there going to be a protest at Wednesday's meeting or are the club discouraging it ?

Where does the access road go from and to?

And how many £millions is it going to cost?

And who wants it anyway?

So this is yet another example of LDC not looking after the interests of their residents in their obsession with stopping the stadium.

In the Ask the Club forum the club have said that they will soon be in a position to announce the likley costs for the High Court hearing. If the club's costs, as a mere co-defendent and without the burden of proof that LDS has, are greater or close to LDC's own estimated costs it may be worth raising on Wednesday.

I've followed this story closley and I still cannot work out how LDC have come up with a figure of 60,000. The more concern we can raise in individual councilor's minds that the true costs will exceed 60,000 the greater the chance of them calling of the case.

Wouldn't it be a good idea for the club's press release on costs to come out on Wednesday afternoon to give the councilor's food for thought?

And yet they can still squander their constituents money pursuing something that is entire outside their jurisdiction? How are they allowed to get away with doing that then?

So what happened? I assume Lewes DC are going ahead with the Judicial Review appeal (or whatver the technical term for it is)?

Hidden costs of stadium appeal
by Rachel Pegg

Lewes District Council has been accused of risking a £160,000 legal bill by trying to block Albion's Falmer stadium.

Brighton and Hove Albion's financial experts have estimated that defending the challenge in the High Court could cost the council three times more than it has budgeted.

They have taken Lord B and Tim Carder hostage.
De Vecchi has declared independence and Norman Baker has been appointed Head of State. All political opponents will be rounded up and executed at the Dripping Pan. Martial music is being played on the radio station.
