[Albion] Leicester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

A player fresh on will have had tactical instructions.

Good coaching would instruct players to not take unnecessary risk in dangerous positions when the game is in the balance with minutes remaining.

Very poor game management.
I was very disappointed with the negative substitution, we didn’t put together one decent phase of possession after it was made, it was just inviting them on to us

Avoiding NSC like the plague this evening, hate reading all the miserable bastards who are incessantly moaning, failing to take into account any perspective - these things happen, and we will have the opportunity to improve on our mistakes. We have a young talented team and a young talented manager - we are NOT Man City (although only 3 points away from them).

Before I log off for the evening, I would like to share my views.

Lots of positives for me today. Lamptey was outstanding - by far our most underrated player.

Good performance from Verbruggen, couldn't have done much for either goal, made a cracking save and good distribution.

Minteh looked lively when he came on - quality goal. Raw, but a real threat.

Wieffer showed some class when he came on too.

Of course there are negatives. We should have put the game to bed. We should have remained focused and positive. Hurzeler was too negative, and the subs did not work. Ferguson is not fitting in this squad - he needs to be loaned out to improve on aspects of his game.

All of these negative outcomes will surely result in lessons learned. As long as we DO learn from them, we are still very much in the race for Europe, and beyond.

Goodnight NSC - you miserable, negative, pessimistic, entitled bastards.
Post of the day, week & season.

Rutter/O’Riley far better than the combined alternative of Gross/Lallana in that position? Gross obviously a great, but Lallana an injured passenger.

Ferdi better than Lamptey as a defender.
Not convinced about O'Riley yet. Rutter has been very good. Pedro coming back broke up a great partnership. Ayari and Baleba way above O'Riley at the moment.

Very poor at Fulham. But according to Celtic era heatmaps and match footage he played more advanced in the Rutter/Gross parts of the pitch.

The BBC should read NSC - it was entirely predictable.

Agree but we are playing him as part of a pair of midfielders in a . much harder league and that then puts pressure on the back line.

I’d rather he wasn’t one of that pairing. O’Riley and Ayari wasn’t enough there second-half versus Stains, they overrun them.

If it must be just a two, any two of Hinsh/Baleba/Ayari ticks the boxes imho.

I’m so fed up of those wet lettuces that say ‘oh, but little old Brighton are 7th in the league, Withdean, Gillingham, nearly going out the football league 30 years ago blah blah blah’ what the fck has that got to do with us letting a 2-0 lead slip with less than 10 minutes to go for the second time this season. They’re professional footballers, professionals! It’s like a surgeon turning up to work drunk!
I agree, I didn't see what subs and formation we played in the last 10 minutes did fab do anything to sure us up and make us more compact? the goals looked carnage. I have to say I am just looking at 3 min highlights only.

Sorry to be patronising, but have a think about why this could be.

I swear NSC has absolutely no sense of context at times.

O'Riley needs game time. Ayari and Baleba now have lots of game time - you may not have been convinced by them before they had game time.

Conclusion: O'Riley needs more game time. If he's this good already, just wait until he has more game time under his belt.

Chap just phoned 606 to say he's a bit disappointed about how it went today after being 2-0 up.

In other news, I am disappointed that it's got dark again, after a very light start in the morning. God OUT!

Bournemouth supporter just phoned up 606 to say he thinks Bournemouth are on the road to be as good as Brighton in the next few years.

Other supporters want their club to be like us.

Meanwhile, some of our supporters expect us to be like Liverpool.

Football is a funny old game, and people are a rum lot.

That is too much positivity for the match i saw today , in fact it`s tough to agree with most of what you say .
Lamptey was very good again and his goal was quality , but he has only just started to show some form after a LOT of injuries and not a small hint of "sick note" , just in time for a contract extension .

Minteh is raw and very good , very very good when he is on form , but I`m sorry but Weiffer is a total loss at this level - pulls out of tackles , passing is poor , too slow to read the game - yada yada yada .

Hurzeler started great but it seems he is easy to read , RE: Wolves 2-0 with 5mins ends 2-2 , today was a carbon copy . Imho he is far too bloody restrictive , if he trusts the lads then let them decide when pissing about is not a good idea and play a ball to the wings or straight down the middle -anywhere but where it was at Fulham for the first or nearly on two occasions today .

As for lessons learnt , where is the proof that he has learnt anything , personally i think he looks at St Pauli one place off relegation and looks at our position and believes that justifies his tactics , massive error imo .

Bastard maybe , but i for one am definitely not entitled , but i am no ones mug either , the team/squad we have should not have drawn at home to Ipswich,Forest, and Wolves , and we shouldn`t have lost to Fulham , Chelsea (remember those tactics) or even Liverpool .

As for Hurzeler changing , he is German with a "Process" which means long term - this German is not for turning !.

So hope I`m wrong , and quickly .

I get what you are saying but honestly that entire injury time period I saw nothing but fear and panic from us. I actually thought they could get a third
The end was pitiful, and a real shame are such a dominant performance.
Veltman is the only one with expert level Shithousery skills. A few others are ok. Most of them lose their cool and don’t do the necessaries In the final minutes.
There was a game soon after the wolves capitulation that we closed out very well.
We reverted to type today and allowed ourselves to be Drawn into the madness rather than taking the sting out of the situation.

We just need to bounce back, batter Palace and we can all sing 'Europe again' together.

That would put us ... equal on points with Liverpool.

Yeah... that sounds about right.

Are you telling me we didn`t deserve to win against Ipswich-Forest or Wolves , and we shouldn`t have at least drawn against Fulham-Liverpool and Chelsea ( apart from that ridiculously high line which ultimately cost us the game ) .
