It may well help if you read a post fully. If so, you'd see I said keep Ulloa.

Danny Graham had exactly the same goal ratio when at Watford, and was younger, yet sold for £3.5m.
That's cool, I was referring to nwgull and others who are keen to cash in, then spend the money on another striker AND beef up contracts.

I love how we don't learn from our previous mistakes AT ALL.

Yeah, cash in. It'll probably only set us back another couple of seasons. Brilliant Championship strikers just grow on trees, we'll just get another one...

Personally I'd say £6.5m would be just that little too tempting.

In a completely seperate issue, I wonder if this is the summer Jordan Rhodes is taken from Blackburn. Far too good to be there and you wonder whether they would have to accept something around £10m for him.

Apologies then.

I agree with the second point. If we spent half of it, we'd be looking at league one players or bang average Championship players. We've done that before (CMS), and it didn't really pay off.

We need to keep him.

Jeeeez how the hell can a first bid of £6.5m in May, from one club, be too tempting?

Ok so this thread is the first, fair enough.
But will we have to go through all this again when:-

Sunderland offer £7m.
Leicester match it.
QPR go for £8m + Bobby.
Arsene decides he needs a work horse for the 'lesser' games and offers £8.5m.

Get a grip people, we have a long way to go, and at the end Ulloa might still be one of us.

Ulloa was great at the end of last season and has been great again this season, people saying get rid are idiots in my opinion.

what Ulloa had last season was the supply ball after ball from Spanish Dave, Orlandi, Lua Lua, Buckley, Bridge Bruno, being swung in onto his nut. when he gets that service he scores, our balls into the box of late have been pretty naff, but when there is a decent ball played in, he will put it in.

If we dont go up and dont have Ulloa next season, we will struggle.

I swear people on here always want a new shiny toy to play with. Ulloa is probably the best striker we have had since Zamora, but people are on here knocking him.

I don't think that's actually accurate, I haven't seen any of the previous 114 posts on this thread that have knocked him. But several that think 6.5 mill might be a good deal. For me it would depend where we end up, and what the alternatives are.

If you read recent threads about Ulloa, many on there have been knocking him, calling him to be dropped at several points.

That's INSANE, how can you possibly think such a small amount of money could buy a decent striker and hand around competitive deals.

If you could pick up a decent striker for £4-5m that would be the going rate, but it's not, not even close.
You're looking at twice that in order to get a player in who's a proven goal scorer.

How many strikers has the club been through, since Murray, and how many goals have they scored.
Had the club wanted to buy any of those, even they, even Painter, would have been 7 figures. (well maybe not Painter)

Leicester's opening offer is £6.5m, that's opening offer.

£6.5m gets you frack all in a division with parachute money swilling around.

I'm not advocating we replace Leo, but if the club is canny enough and done it's homework then you certainly could replace him adequately for the figure you have mentioned...... There are always snips to be had.....we only paid around 2 million for him in the first place. So he is an example himself.
But whatever, I have confidence in our dealings, other than throwing money away on unused loan aquisitions.

Bizarre reaction.

From what I saw in the OP's post, all thats happened is rumoured interest. No bid has been made. Of course you would negotiate.

All I said was, personally, if a club offered £6.5m eventually then I wouldnt be shocked if that was enough for us to sell. I may be completely wrong on that. I have no idea what figures the club have against our players.

Oh no. Sorry. I forgot. Let me blindly claim he is worth £10m and that 10 premier league clubs will be in for a player 13th in the top scorers list and who will be 28 this summer.

Nah I should have retracted.

I'd allowed this thread to get to me, and it was making me all titsy, you were last!!!

I was just getting a little fed up with our fans selling our club and players short.

If we get promoted this season. I can't see how Leicester city will be a more desirable club?

In other news presumably we are due some more money from Sunderland as Bridcutt has kept them up :lolol::lolol:

Probably up to £5m. I would love it if the club released the final fee..... The Mackems would go banana's......

Of course Leo is Premier class. He is better than the strikers at a third of current Premier League clubs:

Neither Cardiff or Fulham have a striker as good as Ulloa. I like Whittingham, but he's looked out of his depth in the Premier league. Norwich probably have a decent striker but of course he hasn't scored since the opening day of the season, so I can't imagine he's all that popular.

And I think you could probably make a case that Ulloa is better than all of team's forwards from 9th downwards without being laughed off. Let's see who else comes in for him...

Its all about opinions I guess. I personally think he is too slow for the prem and doesnt hold the ball up well enough for a chap of his size. I am sure though in his defence he is carrying an injury as he has barely jumped since his return. As you say we shall see.

We're in a unique position with Leo - IMO a lot of Albion fans over rate him as a player, but under rate his value to us. He's not one of the 6 or 7 best strikers in the division and in true, unbiased market value, not worth £6.5m. BUT for what it would cost to replace him, £6.5m would not be enough unless we fluked a genius on a free from abroad or the lower leagues, of which our track record is not great. Ulloa is simultaneously not as good as we think, and more critical to our play than any other player.

That really doesn't make much sense. How come you think it would cost another team £6.5m to bolster their attack with Ulloa but would cost us more than that to replace him with a Leo-standard player?

Surely, the way it works is that we work out how much it would cost to replace him, then add a bit more to his price to cover unforeseen expenses (such as his replacement having higher wages or the selling club holding out for more).

Very hard to say given he has never played in the Premier League.

I'm saying I don't believe he is worth £6.5m (if the best strikers at this level go for £5-8m) but to buy an austin/rhodes/mccormack type striker who WILL score 20+ championship goals would set us back probably £5m in transfer fee, plus huge wages on top. His salary in comparison to those mentioned will also be much lower - Rhodes for example is apparently on £30k p/w (£1.5m p/a) - I'd doubt Leo is on half that. IMO his value to us exceeds his true market value.
