Top rant and pretty much spot on. It may be the top clubs and players that are milking it but it's hard to blame them, they are hardly going to turn down money. The authorities such as the FA, UEFA and FIFA are supposed to exist for the good of the game but are too busy lining their own pockets. The game is rotten to the core and that's the problem.

With all of this money washing around, there should be sufficient to provide enough money to support all of the league clubs.

However, we all know what's going to happen though don't we. :nono:

But why should clubs that don't generate that level of money be entitled to other clubs revenue.

I think it is a moral issue due to finances rather than a solely financial issue. The fans are getting rinsed by clubs, merchandisers, Sky and caterers. Its f***ing pure greed and it makes me sick.

I agree with the guy, but i wonder what his thoughts were on clubs at the botton of the Championship (or whatever it was called then) when Leeds were Chumpions League semi-finalists.

surely BHAFC season ticket holders are the scum of the earth , those people who have held the club up by its bollocks for the last 8 years, those who sit 25 times a year and recently watch complete and utter shite in a toilet stadium with toilet food and toilet facilities and toilet toilets and then get fecked over when a decent game comes along every 2 years, BHAFC are unique as they are screwed but even so

Yeah, I said that on page 1. If Roman Abramovich had gone somewhere else you might now be reading a similar rant from a Chelsea fan.

Reminds me of a piece I read in the Telegraph last week. Sums up your post rather nicely.

Quote....A curious survey a few days ago revealed that seaside town Torquay, famous for its hanging gardens of Babylon and herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain, is also Britain's bankruptcy capital, with 1,238 of its population of 117,000 insolvent.

Sadly, for a few days, it appeared that the town's football club, already looking certain to crash over the edge of the league cliff face into the Nationwide Conference, were about to join the bankrupts after major shareholder Mike Bateson withdrew financial support following a fall-out with new chairman Chris Roberts.

Thankfully, those difficulties were eventually resolved and, when Roberts resigned, Torquay found a new knight in shining armour in Keith Richardson, an accountant who also owns a number of high-class hotels, which is a welcome boost to the town's reputation.

Meanwhile, back in the real world at Chelsea FC, directors and accountants are swigging from champagne bottles to celebrate their financial genius in reducing the annual debt from £140 million to a mere £80.2 million, which apparently involved some painful belt-tightening. One imagines that the 0.2 would have done much to alleviate Torquay's financial plight before Richardson rode to their rescue.

 Yeah sorry, it wasn't there when I started writing my post. And if Leeds get taken over by the queen of Timbuktu with a massive cash injection he will settle back into his armchair and enjoy the succession of unpronouncable talent on show.

Hmmm, I'll take that rant with a pinch of salt I think - for a number of reasons:

Firstly, Leeds were getting 35-40,000 when they were GOOD in the PREMIERSHIP. The reason that bloke can't be arsed with the Premiership is that Leeds are as far away from the top division as they've EVER been since he's been watching them! Nothing to do with anything else.

There are loads of things that have "ruined" football - but I would say the formation of the Premiership is reasonably far down the list. What about the removal of terracing? Champions league football - which really does have the same 4 teams in it each year? And the ridiculous ticket prices - which is a football wide problem? Leeds are SHIT but the reason they are getting just 16,000 is because Bates jacked up the prices (except in the corners). Or is that the Premiership's fault?
And I'm not sure whether the elitism argument holds much water either. If your team gets there just for one season, they get two parachute payment seasons in the Championship I believe. If there was a true elite, you'd get the same 3 going down and coming back up again. Yet we have 8 teams at the top of Championship separated by 4 points.

As for this rant about England not producing good players because of the increase of foreign talent - that really is complete bollocks as far as I can see. England could have won the WC in 2006 if they'd had a decent manager. And anyway, I like the fact that some of the best players come to England to play these days - the French influence in particular has been fantastic.

I agree with the Leeds fan.

Let's take the League Cup Final on Sunday. TV replays showed that Drogba was level, therefore Chelsea's equaliser was fine. Well done referee and linesman...or not.

Andy Gray (wrongly) called the goal offside, undermining the officials. Wenger after the match said it was a yard offside, as did Fabregas.

As if that wasn't enough Wenger had the cheek to say the referee should have sent off a couple of Chelsea players that got away scot-free! Surely he should be more concerned about the 2 reds his team received and the petulant attitude that Arsenal have (again) displayed on the big stage.

I'm sick of players, managers and pundits blaming the referees all of the time.

Football in this country is sick with the cancer of greed and self-interest, and I'm not surprised fans are finding other things to do with their time and money.

"Financially,I am glad to say, each player will benefit by this afternoon's match to the extent of at least £3.To the winners a bonus of £8 is payable by the club,so it is possible for the participants of the winning team to receive£11 extra to their basic wage.If the match is drawn, all players taking part will receive an additional£7 made up by £3 appearance money and £4 bonus for the draw.If our boys are successful the wage packet for those taking part in both the Luton and this afternoon's match will be £35.As today's match is in addition to the normal League and FA cup programme,it is nice to see the players get a little extra remuneration, provided they give entertainment value to supporters."

ALBION v WREXHAM,Football League Cup 16/11/1960.

4,650 saw the Albion lose 2-0,and I don't know about the entertainment value as school didn't kick out until 3.45,and this was a 2.30 kick off.
Not a foreign player in sight, though McNicol,McNeill and Bertolini played for Albion, whilst McCreadie,McGowan and Harbertson played for the Welshmen.

I earned 9 bob a week delivering the Argus,so £35 was a Kings(road) ransom.

Chelsea allegedly ran up a bar bill of £30k after the final.I assume it was all Coca Cola and they were trying to win a player for their club!

I agree about the attitudes of managers, but I think there have always been people prepared to blame the ref for EVERYTHING in the game. And Wenger in particular has always been a total tosser about defending the thuggery of his own team.

The problem nowadays is that there is so much money riding on these decisions that there needs to be better safeguards against shit decisions - I think it's time for TV referees. It seems that too many people seem happy for games to be decided by human error, yet we're talking about a low scoring sport where every scoring decision is crucial.

I agree with a lot of what the Leeds fan has said. Like Lokki and Brovian, you can't help wonder slightly if his ire has been exacerbated by quite how bad his team have been recently. He may not have had this rant if Leeds were playing Man Utd in the Prem on Saturday, and Bayern Munich next week in the Champions League.

But I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt, there are some issues he raises which clearly now go beyond parochial concerns and pure self-interest. Even Premiership fans are voting with their feet.

My fear is that any day now a Premiership chairman, because of the huge sums involved, will break ranks and say there should be no relegation, the view that has so disgusted people in rugby.

He IS right - but if Leeds were still in the top of the Prem and in the Champions' League would he feel the same way? Or would he be one of the 'Stuff you, I'm all right Jack we've just signed the biggest TV deal in history' premiership fans that he so rightly despises?

Not taking anything away from him as it is a top rant and I agree with every word - as I do with most of what 'Dave the Litterbug' wrote!

Agree with him.

If Leeds where still in Champions league this would not have been written, If Brighton where in the Premiership most wouldnt agree.

He is right tho.
