This fan makes some good points, but what he has neglected to do was rant before they were bottom of the pile and heading for League One.

Take the rough with the smooth. The lows make the highs that much sweeter.

I suspect this chap was lapping up the trips to Nou Camp and so on, trips that were only possible when his club spent obscene sums of money and played a hand in inflating the transfer market.

Fair point about ‘slagging down’ fans for not going to games anymore. There are far more enjoyable activities that are free, let alone £25+, but hey it is down to personal preference.

Do you feel distant from our players? I like to think we are quite a close club. It is easy to get in touch with them and you always see them before, during (obviousl) and after games.

One thing is for sure, the FA must act if they do not want their beloved game to self destruct at grass roots. Crewe have stated they may not be able to carry on their academy, yet next year whoever finishes last even if they do not score a single goal will be paid £30m. Wage caps and owning the TV rights would be a start.

what I don't understand is, all these people that are taking over prem clubs and investing fortunes. How do they make there money, if there are only 4 places available for CL? fans aren't exactly turning up in droves to see the other teams, and fans of the big teams are becoming disillusioned regarding the price to see there team play.

How do they make their money? Are you serious?!

The last overseas Premiership TV deal was worth $1.2bn - that's BILLION.

That's on top of the Sky deal. And then you can add in global merchandising and all the rest.

Premiership clubs are mega-rich. A few empty seats makes no difference to them.

I agree with the majority of what the Leeds fan has said, but I am a bit cynical about the rant. I do think that if they were in the top four of the Premiership he wouldn't be so angry.
Poor performance of your football club generally gets people wound about about other issues in football too.
I think he may have to get used to Divison 3, I mean League 1 club's names next season!

I think you only have to remember one fact about the Premiership, before its introduction there was a possibility of Provincial clubs like Nottingham Forest, Derby etc actually winning the old First Division didn't happen regularly but nonetheless there was opportunities for it to happen. In 1991 Palace finished 3rd and for up to about 6 weeks before the end of the season we were in with a shout of winning it still. Now there is absolutely no hope of anyone outside the "power 4" lifting the title just isn't going to happen, now how can that be good for football that it only goes on how much dough you have solely and utterly? Look at the facts the Premiership started in 1992 and except for Blackburn only 3 clubs have ever won it, leagues within a league all serious competition null and void.

Also half empty stadiums that 10/15 yrs ago would have been full up! Lower ticket prices and make its an enjoyable cheap sport! One that anyone can turn up to and enjoy them selves and let all the normal sensible person they are in the week go away and be them selves and 100% pasionate.

If you're a fallen giant (eg Aston Villa), maybe.

But I think you'll find the current average attendance in the Championship (second division) is higher than the average attendance in Division One (top division) 15 years ago.

Doesnt the Championship have the 4th highest average attendence in Europe?

I agree and the Leeds' fan rant as well. I know Leeds are only just beginning to feel the pain and that they used to be cushioned in the Prem but maybe it is a good thing that some of the 'big' clubs are suffering as it might start making a difference to the FA. What it needs is for some of the Prem clubs to start saying the same thing ie Spurs or Blackburn.

Totally agree, there have always been great teams that dominate certain eras or short periods of time (Liverpool, Leeds etc) but they never had an iron grip on the finances of the game like they do today. Unless something really dramatic happens and their investors suddenly all pull out, you can see all the major domestic trophies going to the top 4 for the next 10 years.

The thing I hate most is that the F A Cup used to give everyone a chance and different teams from throughout the top division would have a chance of winning it. Now though, it's just another pot to put in the trophy cabinet of the top 4, if they're not devaluing it by playing a reserve side, that is.

It's quite interesting that the two clubs with the most spectacular falls from grace have both been from Yorkshire. If I remember rightly, Bradford City were literally begging teams to take some of their highly paid, long contract players off their hands.

If the no-relegation Premiership comes into existence then attendances will fall for the majority of the clubs, but the revenue from Sky will continue to support them as long as the TV subscription money from the armchair fans continues to roll in.

Many Premiership matches will be played before half empty stadiums, and in the second half of the season with many clubs having nothing to play for this will become even more noticeable.

At least we will be spared the hypocritical rubbish from those involved with Prem clubs claiming that the money benefits all clubs as it trickles down into the lower leagues. If this ever was the case it only benefitted a very few clubs, like Crewe, who were lucky enough to have a productive academy. For teams like Brighton it simply means that every once in a while we get a windfall which keeps the tax/VAT man from the door.

Would it really be a big deal if we were denied the opportunity to aspire to the Premiership?

He is spot on but also closer to home

surely BHAFC season ticket holders are the scum of the earth , those people who have held the club up by its bollocks for the last 8 years, those who sit 25 times a year and recently watch complete and utter shite in a toilet stadium with toilet food and toilet facilities and toilet toilets and then get fecked over when a decent game comes along every 2 years, BHAFC are unique as they are screwed but even so

LOOK AFTER YOUR supporters AND STOP TREATIN THEM LIKE SHITE

The STH v pay on day is irrelevant - everyone pays (one way or another) everyone watches, everyone suffers..... I don't think WHUFC can be described as a decent game given the state they are are in (currently 19th). The mighty Reading (laugh until I cry  ) would be a bigger game at present (currently 6th so there's hope for us all still :thud: ) - this is all too depressing so I'm now going to :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

Yea, but don't clubs get just £30m of it being in the prem. I don't know about the deal, perhaps you can enlighten me on how much a middle of the road team like Blackburn get a season just for staying up.
