Why the f*** aren't their fans mobilised more effectively? You expect the FA not to have the balls to ensure Bates was found to be unfit to run a football club, but what are the fans doing?

It's ridiculous. We're a club half the size and when we were in similar trouble, the actions of some of our fans were directly responsible for hounding out one of the richest men in the country.

aybe I'm looking at the wrong sites but isn't their response one of the reasons why (aside from their current management) so many people hate Leeds? It's a shame because they were a great club with (still) massive support and if it could be mobilised it would be bound to have a positive impact.
Unfortunately it seems to be one of those situations where the vast majority are held back by a vociferous minority.

Why would Leeds want to oust Bates just yet?

He has effectively wiped out their debts and they will be sold onto a big money man who will invest millions into the team.

How is this a sorry demise? Shock horror, they are forced to play football in the lower leagues for a while. They still play in a decent ground and can attract (relatively) huge crowds when fortunes on the pitch change.

The FL have baulked on this. 15 points punishment is not a great deal considering how many people are getting ripped off by Bates. He had them by the short and curlies and they wimped out. But what can you expect when the fellow football authorities allow people like Gaydamak (loose links with arms deals), Abramovich (bought Russian oil for peanuts) and the likes of Thaksin Shinawatra are allowed into football in this country.

the fl blinked to bates (and as a leeds fan i am 'glad' as someone who lost a lot of money on leeds in the last three months i am not so happy) we get to watch football this season at elland road, in the grand scheme of things 15 points behind everyone else is the least of our worries. maybe we'll get relegated, maybe we won't.

had they not blinked and allowed us to play next weekend the club would have folded, the buy back on elland road/thorp arch would cease to exist and leeds united as we have known it would not be anymore.

so very relieved.

still a lot going on behind the scenes, creditors dealings with kpmg are far from over, bates will be gone relatively soon, he wiped out the debt, made a lot of pennies for himself but as he has been saying he'll sell up and move on and hopefully it'll be sixth time lucky with chairmen.

have a lot more to say but spent the weekend on the beer in leeds and returned to a houseful of one year olds and a birthday party for the littlest starry so need another beer first.

Pleased to hear that it's not all doom and gloom. As you say, the 15 points is probably the least of Leed.s worries. Just hope for the sake of football, your supporters can re-organise with a concerted campaign (backed up by genuine investors) to rid themselves of Bates.

So did the fans boo Bates as was suggested on Talk Sport (listened on the drive home from Chester) and was it a majority?

Bates shouldnt be allowed to be Chairman of any football club, does he really have the teams interests at heart or his bank balance? Does he get paid as Chairman?

Football is being driven away from the real fans by the drive for ££££££££££££££'s to pay players too much money and leave clubs with greated potential of going out of business, but the people involved wont care as they will have moved on to there next victim.

Because we very quickly realised we were more or less on our. Until Fans United we got little if any support and it made us stronger. Leeds fans think they have a divine right to survive and aren't doing much-because "We are Leeds".

Bates needs punishing for trying to f*** over the clubs in the FL and Leeds fans need a damn big wake-up call. If they can't be bothered-why should we? And I mean bothered...not simply moaning.

i couldnt tell you, i was prevented from entering the stadium, but certain people have been booing bates since the day he arrived. majority or not on saturday, i have no idea.

he has drawn no official wage from leeds but i am sure he has been taking money is other ways.

cjd- i am not convinced that now we have the share and while there are various outstanding issues with court, kpmg etc ousting bates would be the best thing. he'll certainly be gone before long, i'm not sure booting him back to monaco (much as it would give me great pleasure) is the best thing, this week.

Any decent players they pursue might be prepared for 1 season in League 1, but 2? I think not.

I think it is outrageous Leeds are going to appeal. The FL have already treated this as an "exceptional"case, presumably because Leeds are a big club. An appeal would be taking the piss and, given the fact that the season is about to start, a further 5 point penalty shoudl be levied if they lose it.

I believe that an additional penalty is an option but wouldn't expect it. Just hope that they hold firm on the 15 point deduction and dont go soft on the issue
