Here are some better lyrics. And hats off if you know the song.

I've teamed up with the hippies now
I've got my fringe unfurled
I want to give peace, love and kisses out
To this whole stinking world
The gypsies, the travelers and the thieves
The good, the bad, the average and unique
The grebos the crusties and the goths
And the only living boy in New Cross

Eyes down and I'll keep you up to date
Two fat ladies in 1988
The safe sixteen lovers who lied
Purley's queen and mother makes five
Butchered bakers, deaf and dumb waiters
Marble Arch criminals and clause 28'ers
Authers, authors, plastered outcasts
Locked up daughter, rock and roll stars
Goodbye Rudy, David and Rosie
Abraham and Julianne
And everyone that knows me

The gypsies, the travelers and the thieves
The good, the bad, the average and unique
The grebos the crusties and you and I
Hello, good evening, welcome
And goodbye
Underrated band IMO

They may as well have appointed Potter and got it over and done with, he'll sing for money all day long.

I don't care if he doesn't sing. I wouldn't much care if he burnt the flag in the centre circle. It's just a song, it's just a flag.
I'll only be watching if there is a BHA interest in this game

If (when) Declan Rice and Jack Grealish get booed tonight in Dublin it will be because they dumped playing for the Republic of Ireland having been capped through the youth levels and in Rice's case 3 senior appearances in friendlies. Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Conor Gallagher are all playing in the EU on Irish passports but probably wouldn't be booed in Dublin because they didn't previously declare for Ireland.
Are you saying that.....nationalism.......is a load old bollocks?

Or are you suggesting that we shouldn't have anyone in the Brighton squad unless they were born within a mile of the Clock Tower?

My money is on the former

Errr.... I don't think I was saying either, but yes nationalism is a load of old bollocks

It's not sung before a cricket test match so why football?
Tradition

(aka, some bullshit made up, probably in Victorian times, to fool the English that we weren't being ruled by Germans.
Pass the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha bag, Alice.)

End of thread
And yet the poster goes on to say this

“and this is , ostensibly a football board, with a variety of opinions represented, and was interested what other participants thought.”

So not really end of thread? 🤔 😉

Still I’m glad they posted it’s reminded me to hang my St George’s flag out the window

'End of thread' is a way of noting strong agreement. It doesn't really mean the thread has stopped.

Which is why I don't get upset if someone posts something else on the thread
