I think that trossard was always likely to go either in this transfer window or the next. His behaviour and form may cost the club a lot of money though pre World Cup possibly rated at 50 million, we may be lucky to get 25 now it is known that he wants away. Hopefully we can get a few clubs competing for him and get a decent return on our investment.
I don’t think it affects our negotiating stance at all. Clubs know players want away simply by getting on the phone to them. If a club wants him then they have to pay.

It’s such a shame isn’t. If he’d let Bloom/Barber/RDZ know that he 100% wasn’t going to sign a new contract then the latest he would have had to wait for a move is the summer as it would have been our last chance to cash in. No need for any of this.

If the thing that “humiliated” Leo was RDZ calling him out in a team meeting for not working hard enough, which seems to have been hinted, then he will not survive at a top club. That sort of thing happens at every club. You only have to watch those All or Nothing docs to see it. So for Leo to use something like that as reason for a tantrum shows a crap mentality.

Football Focus just came out with the usual cliches that the manager should be doing what he can to make up and keep the player. The timeline seems to suggest that Trossard's lack of effort started after his return from the World Cup, his first training sessions with Brighton after the additional year option had been taken up. If, as it seems, Trossard's desire to move being stymied is what began the falling out, what are they expecting De Zerbi to do? From the club's point of view, there is no change: He moves if someone meets the club's valuation. If nobody does, then its up to the player if he decides whether to sulk or to work. Very few continue the sulk outside of transfer windows.

It added: “It is therefore important that Brighton cooperates with a potential transfer during this transfer period and shows a benevolent attitude, which is beneficial to both parties.”

I would reply suggesting they re-arrange this famous phrase...'OFF f***'

Call me old fashioned, but if you sign a contract, you should stick to it, and not get your agent to offer you around for a better contract elsewhere.
Both parties sign contracts and both parties want something the other might not at different times. We actively have looked to offload players we’ve no longer wanted by touting them to other clubs. It’s not all one way.

Harry Kane similarly agitated for a move, refused to turn up, then was welcomed back into the side. Whether this is terminal for Trossard at Brighton remains to be seen, but if offers aren’t quite what he or the club were expecting, might be that some bridge repair contractors will be needed.

The lower the transfer fee the higher the wage offer and agent fee. Not in our interest at all.
I have mulled over your word puzzle and have come up with this BHA response;

‘f*** off.’

'... and in return for this benevolent attitude, my client promises to make the minimum effort possible in training and attempt to undermine the manager's authority.' Another rube who thinks that Tony Bloom is like most football chairmen. Ask Poyet what happened when he tried to shaft him. Did he get a nice pay off to leave, or did he get sacked for gross misconduct?

I wouldn’t. That’s what he wants and it takes no account of our investment in and contract commitments to him. It would also set a terrible precedent for the rest of the squad. This is a much bigger issue than Trossard.
Absolutely this. It's laying down a marker for the club:

Sign for us, we'll coach you to fullfil your true potential, help you achieve your goal in the biggest stage of world football and we won't stand in your way if a bigger club comes in for you at the right time and price. BUT don't trying to f*** us over otherwise you'll lose.

Want to sign?

“I’m sensing a change of management styles from touchy feely to smashy testes”.
How I imagine the reconciliation will look.

Trossard can absolutely do 1 to be honest. I’d get whatever fee I could and pack his bags for him
Bowing down to his demands opens the door for others to try the same thing when / if the time comes, which would be more costly long term than losing a few million on him now by staying firm.

Power remains with he club as it should be

You're right of course. @Springal also pointed out another anomaly, in that we court players over a long period, which is also undoubtedly true.

That said, my allegiance is with the club, and not necessarily any individual player, especially when that player wants out.
I appreciate that this may give rise to the occasional double standard.

For me, Trossard's behaviour has gone beyond looking for a way out. He's now taking the piss.

This , i think Trossard has lost sight that the extra year option works both ways , if he had been long term injured he could of activated the clause to his benefit . It`s a simple case of a bellend spitting his dummy out :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:
