I think the Albion would be better off buying out the Golf Course land and building the training complex further east out of the way of prying neighbours. More room and it may even work out cheaper.

Advantages: privacy, more room larger spaces between the pitches, access from the top road

Disadvantages: owners may not want to sell, land of inferior quality, land costs may be cheaper but other infrastrucure costs (e.g sewage, road access) may be higher.

Or there could be an option to use the Council land and additional private land to give more space to fit in the pitches, security privacy.

Compared to the Derby County facility the land is of similar size but at New Monks Farm the land which was once all in private ownership, some of it is now owned by the Council. The Council bit is relatively small, a bit too small I would reckon.

Posh end of Shoreham
It's funny when people moan about places being built near their homes
Who built their homes in the first place and what green field had to ripped up to accommodate them
It's sad when people have nothing to do with their lives they go on a crusade to justify some existence

Last season, we went by Nottingham Forest Training Ground and Academy heading towards The City Ground. This was directly behind a whole road of Houses and a very busy main road. I bet they went through what we are going through as well.

I don't think they mean the application refers to 1200 houses, rather that it refers three times to 'next stage development', implying that the initial development will not be the end of the process.

I also think their concern is largely about the site passing from public into private ownership - thereby reducing control over how the site is used in future.

But as far as the academy application is concerned isn't the next stage development simply what is required to upgrade it from a category 2 facility into a category 1 facility? Nothing to do with any houses. Have they misunderstood this? Where have they got this idea of 1200 houses from?

Yeah, no idea on that!

Do they just delete most of the posts supporting the academy?

They've been very selective with the comments they've allowed in support of the academy, Makes a bit of a mockery of the bit where they say they welcome all comments.

Probably too frightened of having their arguments ripped to shreds if they posted on here, bit of a coincidence they've sounded the last post on their own site just when more supporters of the academy start posting on there.

It's now confirmed on the Adur Council website as going to the planning committee on the 1st October, With a recommendation to approve the application subject to some conditions that look fairly standard.

After reading some of the ridiculous comments and arguments on that site it is clear that they have received help from the Falmer NIMBYs. They seem to think that they have a divine right to the 'public land' near their properties, to do with as they please, including some interesting land grabbing that is probably pissing them off the most because they'll have to give it back. All of the comments on that site have nothing to do with community spirit and everything to do with NIMBYism. I hope the planning application is approved and work starts immediately.
