Out of interest, is it inaccurate that without the BHA application the site was due to be kept in public ownership and turned into public access football pitches?
Because if that's right I can understand their objection tbh.
If that were true (I don't know) it wouldn't be happening now.Out of interest, is it inaccurate that without the BHA application the site was due to be kept in public ownership and turned into public access football pitches?

That was what the place was earmarked for but that isnt what their objection is. They are saying that it is a space where 'loads' people walk dogs and enjoy as a public space. They also seem to think that the site will be used from approx 8am until 10pm SEVEN days a week and will be constant noise and nusence to them. They also dont want to spoil the quietness of the area with people shouting and whistles being blown, dispite the fact they are under the flightpath from Shoreham Airport.
The kids Football argument is just something they are using in their argument dispite the fact they say the sound of people playing Football is exactly the kind of thing they dont want.
But at the end of the day, would you be surprised?Because if my council went back on a commitment and decided to sell off public land to a private developer, I'd be pretty pissed off.
If that were true (I don't know) it wouldn't be happening now.
I'd wager parts of my body, if the Albion get turned down, that land will be house within 5 years.
The crux of my comment on their forum.

I know that lots of people on that site are saying lots of things, some of them very silly.
But some of them are stating clearly that the council had earmarked this site to remain in public ownership and include public pitches. Is that correct?

I'm not 100% sure about the facts of this matter but I do live in the local area so have a rough idea of what is happening.
Anyway, as far as I am aware...
The land is/was privatly owned but it was given to the council on the provision that they provided Football pitches and changing areas for Adur Athletic FC. If this isnt done then the land can be claimed back.
Like I say, I'm not 100% sure about the facts but that is my understanding on it.

You may well be right. But that doesn't make the council's actions right, nor the locals' objections wrong.
The council would be incredibly wrong.Sadly not. But I'd still object to it!
Oh well my comments won't make it past the moderator either.Luckily I saved it into Word just in case anyone asked me this!!!!
"Bringing the BHA development to Mash Barn will bring jobs, and growth to Lancing and Shoreham. I cannot see the problem people are trying to create here. It’s not like the Albion are bullying their way into buying the land up, they have followed legal guidelines and goverment policy. During the building of the American Express Community Stadium, they brought in people with the specific aim of blending a 20,000+ capacity stadium into the Downs – no mean feat!!! They have already said that they would work with the same team to blend this development in with the local surroundings as best as possible too.
Also, as far as I am aware, the use of the pitches and facilities was to be opened up to schools, youth teams and junior level football when available – another valuable commodity for the children of the area.
YES TO BHAFC’S DEVELOPMENT!!!"

Hmmm ok, that one I'm less surprised aboutIn the photo section, the one with all the wildlife;
I enquired as to why there was a lack of pictures with birds, but then said it wasn't a problem as The Seagulls will be there soon!
