Kuipers - is he the third to lose legendary status this season?

And goals per game, in bar chart format...

Conclusive proof that Michel is still a star.

Conceding 1.20 goals a game in a team as unbelievably shit as ours is a minor miracle in my book.

Our win rate with kuipers is almost identical to with sullivan, though. What does it matter that you concede two thirds of a goal less, if you don't win any more frequently?

Because the goalkeeper's job is to stop goals occuring, not to score them himself.

I'm not looking on a goal keeper basis, I'm looking at it as a team thing. The team performs as well with kuipers as they do with sullivan, as far as results go, and this is a results game.

Because to win a game you have to score and that's got nothing to do with the goalkeeper,

You win a game by scoring more goals than you concede.

A goalkeeper who lets in 1 goal in a 4-1 win is no better than a goalkeeper who lets in 1 goal in a 1-0 defeat.

But a team that wins 4-1 with one keeper is better than a team that loses 1-0 with another keeper.

Games aren't won and lost by a keeper, they are won and lost by a team. I don't think you can separate the keeper from the team.

Watch the video then tell me it wasn't El Abd's fault that cross got in.

I will but isn't it the goalkeepers job to command the 6 yd box and anything in that box should be his unlike the 2nd goal at MK last week when once again he started coming and then stopped allowing their player to out jump El Abd into and head into an empty goal.

He was a liability today, the main culprit for us losing. Still a legend, but he has had a incredibly average season, and some of the arse licking on this thread is ridiculous.

Nail on head. Still think he is the best shotstopper we have had, apart from today.

As I have said if it is in the 6yd box it SHOULD be the goalkeepers wherever and whoever has it. That is what makes a good goalkeeper they treat the 6yd box as their domain.

Wonder what Mark Ormeroyd thought about FDM as he was watching from the stands.

I'm sorry but I got very interested when Samrah said he was going to talk to an Albion legend at half time but then it turned out to be Ormeroyd, one of the worst keepers we have ever had.

Cost us the game today. Anyone who argues differently is delusional. He should apoplogise to the fans for that performance.

This however does not mean he is not a Brighton legend, just that he is now past it. He makes too many mistakes and is not mobile enough, hence why he does not come for crosses anymore.

First goal - thought about coming for it but was never going to get there so took up perfect position. NOT his fault.

The ball was an up and under and was his to claim, he started coming then committed the cardinal sin of goalkeepers by hesitating then back tracking which meant Elphick had little time to react resulting in a weak header and the resulting goal. In a situation like that a defender needs his goalkeeper to make a decision then carry through not hesitate and back track.

I don't think he should lose his statues, because FDM is a legend, and a great servant to our club.

HOWEVER

He was a pile of steaming shit today, I put him at fault for all three of the goals. I don't know what the problem was, but he didn't seem to want to come of his line at all. It was like his feet were glued to the sodding turf!!!

I agree he had a bad day - couldn't make up his mind, shouted at the linesman, but did not comand his area. He seems unable to communicate with Virgo and that costs us.

I have always thought he was one of our better keepers, the best being Mark Beeney, but I am sorry to say I think he sell by date is fast approaching and feel that Sullivan has grownup this season and deserves a chance.

Kuipers is / has been an excellent GK for our club. He may have had a mare today, but that doesn't mean he's become a bad keeper overnight. It may be that he's coming towards the end of his career - in which case it is all to the good that a young keeper from our youth team has come through to challenge him for the no.1 jersey.
That is as it should be; at least is one thing that is going right for the club!

Had a bad day, lucky not get sent off.

The reason the ref came over to speak to the linesman in the first half was probably to check what abuse he was dishing out.

Just wasn't at the races today.

On the subject of our keepers did we ever appoint a replacement for Critchon or are we still using that goalie coach who turned up on trial just before Adams got the sack?
