I swear this place has lost its collective shit the last few months. There are so many absolute bat shit mental comments concerning RDZ, the club and the whole manager situation.

You're not wrong. Some of the comments are utterly insane on here.

You believe he’ll do better with Baleba, Gilmour and another youngster than Mac Allister, Gross, Mwepu, Bissouma and Caicedo?

:wozza:
When Mac Allister came he was barely PL level, when Potter left he was a key player for us and chased by most teams in the league.

When Caicedo came, he had been collecting yellow and red cards in the worst team in Belgian league history. When Potter left he was a key player in our side and one of the most wanted DMCs in the world.

When Mwepu came, he mixed schoolboy mistakes with short bursts of brilliance. When Potter left/Mwepu had to retire, he was just entering the realm where brilliance was his norm (that said, this guy is considered a lot better now than he was actually playing).

Gilmour, Baleba and Hinshelwood can be become as good as those who left us if we give them time and a manager willing to help them rather than look for expensive replacements.

To be fair to Potter, that's not exactly an obvious formation to pick.

Although given how shit the forwards he had available were I guess he maybe should have just gone with "play literally all the midfielders" a little earlier.
Yes, 100% agree on that.

We saw the team sheet outside Spurs’ ground and were, frankly, scratching our heads. The post game walk back chat was “why didn’t we do that sooner?”.

But however you want to spin it Potter didn’t play Caicedo in his seven game losing streak and then did when we turned it around. That’s a fact 👍

Fair enough, these are a good team but how many games did they all play together?

It would be unlikely all 5 would be on the pitch at the same time, even with Potters tinkering shoe-horning in 5 central midfielders game after game is tricky. But for most of the end of the 21-22 season 3 or 4 of the combination played with the others on the bench. The options Potter had with that midfield 5 were ridiculous and players could be rotated in and out without any loss of quality.

Are you sure Bissouma was still here in Potter’s last season?

Yes he left in the summer of 2022. That was at the end of Potters last full season.

Why are we so sure, that we were intrested in Mckenna? We all know that the club keeps things like this quiet. We just taking what the bookies are saging as fact. Mckenna has been fav fir us, chelsea and utd. Would not suprise me if nobody have spoken to him or either thought about having him. Maybe its mckenna agent who has been leaking made up stories to get a better deal. Waiting fir the bookies to make RDZ fav for the Brighton job, its the only one he has not been fav for.
Wasn't overly convinced McKenna was part of the likely new manager chat for us from the reaction of Barber in the post-Man Utd press conference when KMcK's name was aired...at about 3.10

Eeeerrrr it looks like we have, currently. Failing to back a manager who could take us even further, for the choice of sitting in the top 10 occasional Europe and now missing out on key management targets, that to me is a huge screw up. Unless of course we get Rydstrom and he was our first choice all along!

Can't help but think though that Bloom and Barber's arrogance may bite them in the arse a little bit here.

AND if it's true that Potter is being considered, I would be absolutely livid. That is a BIG step backward.
What arrogance do you mean? It's obvious from his comments that RDZ wasn't happy at Brighton this season. I don't think either side was 'arrogant', they just didn't believe in quite the same approach, especially re transfers. In addition to that, our results were just piss poor this season, and especially since September. Pretty much relegation form since Christmas. So I don't have unlimited sympathy with Roberto.

As for Potter, I'd be surprised and disappointed if he returned but it's not something I'd lose any sleep over. If we had the same start to 24/25 that we had in 22/23, I'm sure people would get used to it soon enough. But I'd still prefer we were more adventurous than that.

But not through to the Leicester game before he walked?

Graham Potter did not play the (arguably) the best player in our history, until he had to out of necessity because Moder got injured. He wouldn’t even start Mitoma.
Maybe he wasn't the best player in our history the day he arrived from the fecking Ecuadorian league. Realistically there was work to be done.

This.

His team always played quite narrow IMO, obviously Solly played prior to his knee injury at Liverpool, but didn’t Potter even have him deeper….

I realise BDB ended up on the left.

No because Bissouma had left. But he still had Gross, Caicedo, Mac Allister, and Mwepu and started with all four against Leicester. Sadly that was to be Mwepu's last game as well.

Those options are way stronger than what we have right now.
