I'm sure they must be alright as they've just got promoted, but, like all promoted sides, they do brilliantly to finish 17th.

The only full ninety I saw of them last year was Maidstone knocking them out of the FA Cup and their goal was scored by Sarmiento, who was on loan from us.
The last club to come up straight from L1 was Sheffield Utd who would have got into Europe but for lockdown and gave Potter a football lesson here, 0-2.

Momentum and confidence are important and they’ve clearly got as much cash as we have.

Which is interesting, because they’ll have the coach who was top of our succession plan, while we might have Mr “16th place, easy life”.
You could use the word 'might' but you could also just as easily use the word 'won't'. As RDZ has found this season, a coach is only as good as the players available to him. I'd wager that they'd happily take far more of our squad than we would of their's.

They might have the cash, but they can't spend much of it. I think they're pretty much up against the FFP limits for the EFL, so can only lose £35m this coming year (possibly less).

You honestly think Potter would get a tune out of our current midfield? And Gross might yet leave.

No. The last club to do it was Southampton. They sacked Adkins in January when 3 points off relegation and Pochettino got them to 14th.

The absolute state of some of the comments on this thread.

1. There is nothing wrong with asking KM if he was interested. If he decides he wants to stay with his promoted project, that is not a "screw up" or an embarrassment, it's just the real world.

2. Why on earth is everyone assuming no KM = Potter and then losing their shit? There is literally nothing concrete to base this on.

3. EVERYTHING being discussed right now is being fed by the click-obsessed media. NOTHING is coming from the club. Do we seriously believe that TB and co are in a total panic right now? No, they are quietly and privately pursuing several pre-planned targets.
I swear this place has lost its collective shit the last few months. There are so many absolute bat shit mental comments concerning RDZ, the club and the whole manager situation.

My understanding of succession planning seems to be very different than some others on here. IMO Succesion planning is keeping tabs of a number of managers who we may be interested in should the need materialise. The list would include various managers at different stages of their carrers , and different availabilities. It would mean that when the time comes, we have already identified a number of managers so that we wouldn't be starting from scratch, but it doesnt mean that we have the new manager ready to sign the day the old one leaves.

We were very very lucky with RDZ in that someone who was very high on the list was (in very unfortunate circumstances) without a club. That was very unlikley to be the case this time round.

Given that whoever we go for is likley to be employed, and possibly quite happy where they are, or at least not unhappy, however high up the list, there is the possibility that that manager wants to stay where they are

It appears that untill about 10 days ago we were not in the position of talking to other managers to asertain their availability or lack of. IF KM was top of the list as we are being led to believe, it still doesnt make it a failure of the plan if he has decided to stay where he is or go elsewhere

I think the succesion plan will have identified a number of possible candidates and its to be excpected that not all of them will be available.

Its been just a week and a half since the club knew RDZ was definitley going, the fact that we havent annonced his succesor isnt a failure by any means, lets give the club a realistic time frame to get the right person in.

What do you reckon the players would think about it? FWIW I'm in the 'never go back' camp - I got back together with exes twice, it was properly awful both times :ROFLMAO:
Mixed reactions probably.

March has probably been very happy playing in his favorite (and probably best) role.

A lot of defenders really don't like conceding 3-4-5 goals on a regular basis. I don't think Webster, Dunk, Veltman or Pervis has anything against Roberto as a person or manager, but I think Potter coming back would give them a big confidence boost and a feeling of relief. Its really stressful going in to a game knowing there's a 1 in 5 chance you'll not only lose but also look like a complete idiot.

You’re right. Sheffield United stopped off for one season in the Championship. So Ipswich are better than them

Not quite what happened. Chelsea interviewed him …and turned him down. Perhaps we did too.

Some of what's reported is being put out by McKenna's agent, so we don't get the full story.

It was interesting that last night a report came out that McKenna had turned down Chelsea. Whereas this morning Romano reported that Chelsea had called him personally yesterday evening to turn him down.

Not sure what our plan is / was though, but Brighton do tend to keep things close and certainly don't leek to Romano etc.

At least we know that McKenna is a ‘no’ now and not in a weeks time.
Let’s hope we have made progress with other candidates. ( not Potter)
I won’t be at all surprised if Potter returns, he still lives in the area, his boys are settled in Hove schools, he doesn’t seem to want to accept any other management jobs. He’ll be back.

Why are we so sure, that we were intrested in Mckenna? We all know that the club keeps things like this quiet. We just taking what the bookies are saging as fact. Mckenna has been fav fir us, chelsea and utd. Would not suprise me if nobody have spoken to him or either thought about having him. Maybe its mckenna agent who has been leaking made up stories to get a better deal. Waiting fir the bookies to make RDZ fav for the Brighton job, its the only one he has not been fav for.

All that was needed to prevent it was the very common uttering of the words "No comments, I'm here to talk about the game".
