If he scored more he would have been off our hands by now. The biggers clubs are going to want the Salah’s of this world who bang them in every weekend.
I think his age is somewhat key to it all, too - having begun playing professional football much later than we’re used to. He’s 28 in May meaning the size of contract a PL heavyweight would normally throw at our best players is likely to take him well into his 30s, with very likely no resale value (which may make them think twice).

His body probably won't give up like a player who has been ragged by the professional leagues from the age of about 16 though.

(good news for us, as he's hopefully going nowhere!)

Unusually for a winger (other definitions of his position are available), I'd say he'll maintain a high level well into his mid-thirties.

And...Verbruggen's weight of pass was just perfect (wrong thread, I know!)
Long punt and a hoof, according to The Sun (as published on the Albion website)

“Mitoma’s ice-cool control taking down a long punt upfield from keeper Bart Verbruggen redefines route one football. The weighty hoof landed on his outstretched right foot like a plunging meteorite, yet the Japanese winger cushioned it like a fragile, newborn baby. He then slammed on the air brakes and left Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah for dead before curling a classy finish into the corner of the net.”

100% this. He has a record of more than a goal or assist every 3 games. That’s top quality stuff in a side who aren’t dominating the league.

The only thing that is stopping Kaoru, as you say, is his age. He’s on a long contract with us so will cost a lot of money, and clubs don’t really pay huge money for older players in the PL any more.

I might be wrong, I hope I’m not, but I have thought for a while that he’ll be at the Albion for a while. None of the above applies if Saudi come in with an offer that no one can turn down of course.

Its certainly Albion's Goal of the Season and probably PL or MOTD Goal of the Season too.
And maybe the Puskas goal of the season too...given its criteria "It should be an "absolutely beautiful goal""
Meh, I'll wait and see his goals in the FA cup final before I make any judgement for GOS...

Having watched the goal about 100 times, I've come to the conclusion that the third touch is the one that makes all the difference. Sure it's unbelievable control from Bart's 'long put upfield' (FFS The Sun...), but the way he takes it away from the Palace reject and makes that vital bit of space is very clever, split-millisecond thinking.

In his Japanese interviews Mitoma says he is thinking one or two touches ahead of the touch. That's some footy brain.

…and so it begins. Although given they can’t even spell his name correctly…

If any of these clubs have the requisite £90m to spend on a then-28-year-old player with no resale value, then I suspect he may well be off. Whether many clubs have the PSR bandwidth to do so is a different matter
